PhuturePriest
I got excited for a second because I thought you meant that they wore swords AS A PART OF THEIR HABIT!! Then I looked and I realized you were right, they do wear a sword: the Rosary. God bless this amesome community. No, they wear an actual sword. Mary+Immaculate<3
The Passionists. Specifically, these Passionists. However, God cannot really be calling me there as I am too old. However, if I could chose anywhere, it would be here.http://www.passionistnuns.org/ I also love the Passionists, and they were kind of the reason that I started discerning, they opened my heart somehow, made me consider, "I could do this." We'll see where I go, but for now I don't really know.
Mary+Immaculate<3
Funny you should ask today when I'm revisiting and questioning these for the first time in months. Um, most of all, homilies. They have priests who celebrate mass but there is never a homily, not even on Sunday. During other parts of their daily liturgy they will read older homilies, for example by John Paul II. But no live ones. Also they have brothers but they don't have contact with them. I've always been a guys' girl (as opposed to a girls' girl) and it would be very hard for me not to have contact with boys and men, even very limited, very infrequent contact. These are things I'd be willing to give up, of course, to follow Christ wherever he wants me, but they could also be signs of where he wants me. What the Sisters of Bethlehem do have is solitude, and lots of it, and I'm not sure about this desire I have for solitude. I seem to want and need far more of it than most people do, even religious people. Hence why I'm struggling today: where does he want me? I'm also a guy's girl, even though I love my blood sisters and my girl friends, I also like being with guys and my blood brothers. Even though I'm not sure at this point in discernment, I have been discerning the Order of the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts of Jesus and Mary for exactly a year. They are priests, brothers, sisters, and external and lay members, all consecrated to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. The ones in the community wear beautiful, full habits, and they are contemplative, but reach out a little bit every day to places like nursing homes and hospitals for corporal works of mercy. Here's the website: Heartsofjesusandmary.com God bless and I hope you like the website :)

Pax_et bonum
I also love the Passionists, and they were kind of the reason that I started discerning, they opened my heart somehow, made me consider, "I could do this." We'll see where I go, but for now I don't really know. the Passionists. Sr. John Mary is seriously the best. She recently emailed me just to see how I'm doing a couple of years after I stopped discerning with them. They opened my heart to discerning the cloister. If anyone's on the fence about contacting them, just do it! Sr. John Mary is so helpful even if you come to discern you aren't called to their community. I'm in a club at my church that meets every two weeks for Adoration, Benediction, Rosary, Little Offoce of the BVM, dinner, and theological book discussion. The leader of the club is a mom and has brought some of the girls in the club on a retreat to the Kentucky Passionists (we live about 5-6 hours away I think). She told us last meeting that Sr. John Mary had emailed and asked whether they wanted to go on another retreat some time. Usually it's the other way around, but those Passionists sure are on top of it! I guess it's because their apostolate if retreats, since they can do those while remaining in the cloister. So we're hoping to go on retreat with the Passionists soon! I would be delighted if we could go, it would be renewing to go on a Passionist retreat, especially since I love the Sorrowful Mysteries the best, and the Sorrowful Mother. And I love my girls, too, and I will love to have sisters. But having brothers as well would be a special bonus. Good luck in your discernment. You know there's another community in that same area that are also devoted to the Sacred Heart and Divine Mercy? They don't have brothers and they have a different charism and apostolate but they're beautiful, too. http://www.sistersofreparation.org/
