Tony
Now I don't feel bad for looking up the offshore betting odds: Turkson and Scola are both 3/1 favorites with Tarcisco not far behind at 4/1. http://www.paddypower.com/bet/current-affairs/pope-betting?ev_oc_grp_ids=1178744
Slappo
I chose Turkson and Clement XV on the 3rd day. Pretty random guess

Slappo
Pope Sanctus Sanctus Maximus Joe I Seriously though, why has there never been a Pope Joseph? Probably because to name your papacy after St. Joseph, the husband of the Blessed Virgin and stepfather of Jesus Christ, the saint who is second only to the Mother of God herself, could be considered arrogant, same with a pope taking the name Peter II. Evangetholic
Cardinal Burke Day 3 Pope Joseph lol, i picked Pope Joseph. :) Great minds. And your Anne-Margret avatar distracts me. Probably because to name your papacy after St. Joseph, the husband of the Blessed Virgin and stepfather of Jesus Christ, the saint who is second only to the Mother of God herself, could be considered arrogant, same with a pope taking the name Peter II. Lol those are my two favorite unused "Pope names." :( Edited March 1, 2013 by Evangetholic
Slappo
Of course in todays day and age, maybe the Holy Father will need St. Joseph's intercession all the more :)

Tony
Slightly OT but this article's interesting to me (Mind you I don't have any wagers on this myself, I just find it all interesting) http://canonlawblog.wordpress.com/2013/02/26/betting-on-the-conclave/

MichaelMarchand
I love that FantasyConclave.com has sparked so much conversation and discussion on the history of the papacy! And it's definitely interesting to listen to people explain why they picked certain Cardinals and certain names -- when we're just looking at all of the entries, we miss out on that! Filling the shoes of St. Peter would be some might big shoes to fill! I wouldn't think any Pope would take the name of Peter again. I like these name choices: Pope Augustine Pope Vincent (St. Vincent de Paul) Pope Ambrose (St Ambrose of Milan; a powerful speaker) Pope Ignatius (St. Ignatius of Loyola) I would love to see a name that hasn't been chosen before. Pope Augustine is my favorite with Pope Ambrose as a close 2nd. :)
