I like Humanae Vitae.

I would be willing to say Humanae Vitae was the best encyclical he ever wrote, and it's in the top three best encyclicals of the past seventy years.

I would definitely agree with the first. For the second, I would have to think for a while before I could agree or disagree, but it does seem plausible. Certainly in terms of enduring importance it remains very high on the list.

Probably the dumbest thing ever. But I did it anyway! I picked Cardinal Dolan although I know he probably has no chance!

Because it is fun?

I would probably pass out from excitement. Literally.

Funny little thing I can remember. Back when Pope Benedict was elected, like the day after (I was in grade eight), I had forgotten what regnal name he took, and for some reason my mind settled on Augustine. I nearly embarrassed myself by saying it out loud.

Why is that? Just curious.

I would love it so much if there was a Pope Augustine!  I love St. Augustine of Hippo!  :)

It would certainly send an interesting message.

If the next pope decides to be called Augustine, I am going to consider myself every so slightly clairvoyant. :|

When does the real conclave begin?

Under normal circumstances it would be between the 15th and 17th, but last week Pope Benedict authorized that it start earlier if all Cardinals are present. Excluding the two who have expressed that they will not be attending.

To be honest, I hope it happens sooner rather than mid-March.  I'm glad Papa Emeritus authorized it before he stepped down.

I hope so too. Since we have had so much time to prepare ourselves for today, it seems natural that we should take advantage of it and start sooner. We live in a very dynamic time, so we ought not to drag our feet. :smile3:

Don't know yet.  Benedict changed the rules on conclaves, and it can start as soon as all the cardinals arrive.

I have absolutely no idea, so I went with the only cardinal I've met.  Cardinal Wuerhl, Day 4, Leo XIV.  Why Leo? I like the name.
