Voting For Voris Is Un Christian And Anti Catholic

Oh goodness Madiesensei, this is absolutely not your fault.  I'm argumentative and bitter, and Nihil and the rest are argumentative and wrong.   :)

Nihil, sounds like a personal problem.   :hehe2:

Nah, in all seriousness, I'm peeved because I explain why I find one specific Voris video problematic, because his video has (potentially unintended) harmful effects on faithful (and not so faithful) Catholics, because the way peoples' words are received matters and can result in genuine pastoral problems. My argument's basically ignored because it involves "feelings" and not facts. EmilyAnn writes up a list of general problems with many of Voris' videos in another thread, and she's written off for not citing a specific video.  Evangetholic comes along and posts a list of general problems with many of Voris' videos that includes an account of his own experience of perceiving his messages in a negative way, and he's praised for making a reasonable argument.

What the what.

I've only seen one so far and it seems really...Like, out there you know?

Yeah, he tends to be rather hyperbolic. I agree with many, perhaps most of his issues, but I often think his ideas for solutions are farfetched or wrongheaded.

That is fine though. These days more and more I enjoy hearing perspectives that force me to come up with intelligent responses.

That is what I used to legit look like until I was like 20.

I should have made them bigger. It was going to start to require lots of airbrushing though, and I hate airbrushing.

Voris is anti-feminist. That's all I said. So, I can see why people didn't respond to that.

If you show me specific quotes I will come up with some response. But if you are looking for someone to defend Voris unconditionally, you will prefer to look elsewhere.

That's what I was saying oh gosh to when you put that picture up. It caught me by surprise.

That is what we call the element of surprise.

I think Evange's post was much more reasonable, thoughtful, and specific than either yours or Emily's. Or, would you rather I say that I feel it was more reasonable, thoughtful, and specific? :|

For yours, I simply think you were making a very big deal over a fairly standard position of his. For Emily's I was rather put off by its vagueness.

Really.  Explain to me how Evange's is more specific than mine, when I mined a silly video for exact, problematic quotes and explained why they are offensive to me.

So what if it's a fairly standard position? If I had a fairly standard position that the Latin mass was stupid, you'd be up in arms in about two seconds ripping me a new one every time I brought it up.

No, yours was specific enough. I just thought you were making a really big deal out of something that did not deserve it. It is a debate that we have done to death on this board, and while you are well within your rights to take offense at his positions, I do not really find it to be all that remarkable.

I would certainly disagree vehemently if you called the traditional Mass stupid, but I would not be personally offended unless you also called me mentally unstable and pitiable.

Is it wrong for me to think, that when I hear about past scandles or things that have gone wrong in the church or christianty in its self that..I think that we're all human and we're not christ, we are called to be holy and pure, but unfortunately we will never be perfect. When I see these things, I really hope they see what's wrong with what they did and repented but, I forgive them and love them still...I don't let those negative things validate my faith and love for christ...

I love an angry feminist.

The other issue is that this second sentence is objectively incorrect. I am not wrong. I am argumentative and bored. With a touch of directionless anger which has no socially acceptable outlet.

But the thing is, so what if you don't find it that remarkable? I find it offensive enough to remark on, and that's enough for it to be a topic for discussion.  I'm not finding a problem with receiving communion on the tongue while kneeling - I'm finding a problem with how Voris specifically connects receiving in the hand while standing with heresy and excommunication.  It's representative of the greater issue I have with most of his work - I find it lacking in charity and seems to easily lead people astray.  And like I said before, I wasn't even asking for people to agree with me.  I was just asking for people to see how I can take such offense to what he's saying...and even that was denied.

Oh, you too? :)
