Autumn Dusk
While the poster is Mormon she has some great points about big families. Go her! This is the kind of attitude that I wish I heard more in the Catholic Community, but is so prevalent with my Mormon friends. http://turkeyboysgirls.blogspot.com/2013/02/strange-mormon-customs-4-big-families.html

Autumn Dusk
Voris or Joseph Smith....If you had to hang out with one ? Seriously? Go to the debate thread if you want to continue the ridiculous love affair with Voris. I don't agree with the Mormon's teaching but their behavior socially is so laudable that it's incredible. Do you know who makes up a majority of voulenteers at one of Mother Theresa's orphanaes? Young Mormons on their year long service mission.

Autumn Dusk
So... Joseph Smith? The guy had issues, and started his own faith. Perhaps the other character should do the same. Next reference of said other character will be reported, its not welcome and in poor taste. In addition, Mormonism was born from confused people throwing vitriolic rhetoric around about faith and belief when Joseph Smith was young. Just thought I'd mention that. Cheers, folks. :irish:
Lilllabettt
they are also, as a religious group, statistically more likely to be involved in domestic violence and to be prescribed psychotropic drugs. so I agree the group as a whole features some very pro-social behaviors ... and some not so pro-social. Mixed bag.

Cheers, folks. :irish: Personal attacks...good grief they are also, as a religious group, statistically more likely to be involved in domestic violence and to be prescribed psychotropic drugs. so I agree the group as a whole features some very pro-social behaviors ... and some not so pro-social. Mixed bag. While the domestic violence stats are very sad, the psycotropic drugs have no bearing on their faith. Depression is a phsysiological illness not one to be shamed about. Some of their more outward teachings socially are things that Catholics should pay attention to. Their "I'm a Mormon" videos were SO MUCH more interesting than our "The catholic church is huge and great".

Their "I'm a Mormon" videos were SO MUCH more interesting than our "The catholic church is huge and great". Their "...And I'm A Mormon" videos are so ridiculous. Basically, they are videos of regular people of different races proclaiming their faith so people will stop thinking no one is a Mormon. "I'm from Korea... And I'm a Mormon." "I'm the voice of the guy that does Donald Duck... And I'm a Mormon."

Lilllabettt
Have you ever heard of adjustment disorder? It is more widely known as "situational depression." I really doubt that Mormons are somehow at a biological disadvantage when it comes to mental health. So -the high rates of pharmaceutical treatment would seem to indicate a wider scale prevalence of adjustment disorder. This is something that many people in the church community acknowledge is an issue. Mormon religious practice in its current incarnation tends to place more public demands and expectations on individual members.

Or perhaps Catholics and other religions live with their depression and call it "guilt" or somehow feel they deserve it.
Guest
It was a joke Dusk...Chill out a little bit... The more you speak, the more I appreciate your posts and finally see past your weird screen name. Thanks bub...My original name was no-tw with know-t.w. it stood for not of this world with knowledge needing observed while time withstands.....but several posters wanted me to change. It so I did....I was a pizza delivery guy at the time so I took the name delivery boy... Well Mr. Smith is dead... so Voris I guess. Ya Smith was a racist so I would go with Voris also...I think he may be fun to drink some beers with and he might crack me up...I sense a good sense of humor hiding under all that smugness...
