Sr Mary Catharine OP
Here you go: http://nunsopsummit.org/archives/1840 Kneel down, Kiss Scapular Lay scapular on the floor and slide down Placing the right palm on the scapular as you slide down Then you lay on your side. It really is hard to explain! But if you do it a lot you can get down really quick! :-)
domenica_therese
Is there a significance to laying on one's side as opposed to face down? Because the latter is what I normally think of when I think of prostration.
truthfinder
Yes, this is correct. The older sisters tell me that they would make the venia at the Confiteor. This is why a "proper" Dominican choir is so wide between the stalls. Don't forget, for many years the nuns and brothers received Holy Communion only a few times a year. And they wore the cappa for Holy Communion as well. Thanks Sister. I believe Carthusian choir stalls are also that wide for the same reason, except they aren't doing the venia :)
Gabriela
The Carthusians prostrate themselves in the choir stalls during consecration, I don't know if the Dominicans do that too. Carthusians are hardcore. Luv 'em.
