Gabriela Posted February 22, 2013 Share Posted February 22, 2013 I've heard there are quite a few Vatican documents that lay out the Church's position on things like mass media (generally), advertising ethics, media consumption, the role of producers and consumers in modern society, etc. Also: What makes the good, the true, and the beautiful—which can be related to mass media and conscious/critical consumption. If you know of any of these documents and could provide names or links, I'd really appreciate it! Also, discussion of the Church's views on these things would be super-interesting. Every year there is the papal message for world communications day - http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/benedict_xvi/messages/communications/index_en.htm The Decree on the Media of Social Communications (written back in 1963) JPII's follow up apostolic letter on the Rapid Development of Social Communications You can also look for things put out by the Pontifical Council for Social Communications.
