ThomasPeter
why dont i hear prodestents having any real problems with the orthodox churches? they seem to have it out just or the Catholic church and leave teh Orthodox out of it. in a book we are reading in my Apologetics class, Born Fundamentalist Born Again Catholic, the author said that when he was thinking of becoming Catholic his family (in short) said the Orthodox church would be better then teh Catholic church. if our faiths are more or less one in the same, why do prodestents make the distinction? do they not know that we are the same, atleast in all teh things they fear in the Catholic church? thank you! tom
Pio Nono
JMJ 5/26 - St. Philip Neri ThomasPeter, Good question. Protestants on the whole (especially Anglicans) will often sympathize with the Orthodox churches when pressed about the issue. The reason is Papal authority; that's the primary problem the Orthodox have with the Roman Church. When Protestants look Eastward, they say to themselves, "Whaddaya know, we have something in common!" If they decide that they want to have the sacraments, they often look to the Orthodox (if they get the chance), since they're able to keep their personal feelings towards Rome. Hope this helps.
