EmilyAnn
I don't think any real psychologist considers dream dictionaries, no matter how reputable the source to be 100% reliable. They're just there to be guides, not Bibles. I don't think any real psychologist considers them reliable at all.
r2Dtoo
I don't think any real psychologist considers them reliable at all. You seem to have an irrational fear of dream interpretation for some reason. I agree that most people should be able to interpret their own dreams without the help of a book, and that if you have a recurring dream that really bothers you your better off seeing a psychologist about it, but what's wrong with a Doctor having a book for dream interpretation. He would be the one to know what's reliable vs what isn't and he can't be expected to remember everything.

Autumn Dusk
Modern dream analysis, along with these "dictionaries" and other books, are pop psychology at its very worst. There is no basis for any of it in any realm of science. Just because something happened centuries or millennia ago doesn't automatically make it great and fantastic. You're looking at it the wrong way. Modern culture, especially urban culture of the 1800's, drove away the idea that dreams had meanings. We are actually returning to an idea and tradition that might help us understand who we are. I don't have an irrational fear of it at all. But as a psychologist I have a strong dislike for unreliable pop psychology and people using it to dupe people out of their money. Scamming should be shamed, but what we're adressing is the VERY real human practice of making sense of our dream state. Many internet resources are free and many dream dictionaries are cheap. It's not like any of us are recommending that people pay people thousands of dollars for intpretations, rather, use resources that take logical societal meanings of seemingly obscure things (a squirrel climbing a lighthouse) and show us that it may indicate we are scrambling for clarity. Not excact science, but a helpful guide.
Guest
No, she's talking about modern dream interpretation. That's WAY different than what you're talking about. Delivery, if a dream worries you, talk to a priest. Don't consult some "Christian" dream interpretation book. Books like those are always scams at best, or at worst are a temptation to get into psychic kinds of stuff (astrology, possibly occult related, etc - false idols). Sometimes dreams are our mind's way of telling us that something is bothering us. But if you think your dream is spiritual and it bothers you, I sincerely recommend talking with your local priest. :) Sure, God might speak to us in dreams, I won't rule out that possibility. But they're probably things meant for you to understand in your own spiritual life. But again - talk to a priest if it bothers you.no the dream didn't bother me at all...thought it was pretty cool actually when I said Jesus help me I woke up right at that point...and I'm not big into this book but I got it a long time ago so I will go back and look at it once in awhile...and the tornado dream is a dream that I have often...and its just interesting that the book says it represents spirtual warfare...that's all...
