Making One's Own Eucharist

curious your thoughts on the matter

Nothing happens unless you're a priest. You need to be consecrated a priest to do it - they literally rub an oil on your hands so the hands can consecrate the Eucharist.  

 

You CAN, however, make a spiritual communion.  

 

 

It's not QUITE the gravest thing possible. :)  Assuming it's done out of ignorance, it's not a mortal sin.  Not to say it's not a huge deal - it's a HUGE NO-NO.  

 

People do break into churches and steal the Eucharist to desecrate it, though.  I'd say that's worse.

Desecrating a validly consecrated host is worse. I forgot that even happened. :(
