Platoon is good too. Don't get too bogged down in war movies as your basis for being a real man. Go outside.

I've seen and loved the Die Hard movies as well, and I'm a fan of True Lies. I have always had a soft spot for war movies, however.

You have a soft spot because you like the idea of heroism. Read the book "Wild at Heart" by John Eldridge. He's a protestant, but the book is damn good and made a huge impact on me when I was your age.

Sounds like a good book.

I have a wart on the underside of my foot and have to have my foot wrapped in duct tape, gauze, and wear a sock at all times.

I hate wearing socks.

Well... that makes for a PERFECT Lenten Penance, DC.

Nothing there that will even remotely get you 'puffed up' with spiritual pride as a spiritual athlete...

And it includes a big dose of going against your own will and pride... because NOBODY likes doing stuff like that....   and I bet they are having you put either aspirin or some other kind of salicylic acid on that wart, too, and that stuff stings... just a little bit, but yes it does... (Veteran of a bunch of warts here... euck).

Yup, a VERY good penance, to my way of looking at it....  kind of like the stuff in the FLYLady Lenten thread....
