PadrePioOfPietrelcino
I don't have a problem with the Girl Scouts for Recieving money from planned parenthood. Just because some organization does things which I believe is wrong does not negate the organization recieving the money from positive effects. In fact, if a bad organization gives money to a good one, that is less money they have for their bad agenda. Although it could lend an element of legitamacy to the bad organization. However, I have stopped supporting the Girl Scouts since they no longer as an organization recognize God.
eagle_eye222001
We did candy bars, and "Entertainment" coupon books. Mostly for band fundraisers. But when I was in elementary school they'd bring in the fundraiser guy and have an assembly and talk about selling techniques and all the cool stuff you'd get (that nobody got) if you sold ALL THE THINGS. Looking back it's pretty seedy, no wonder my mom hated fundraisers. She would always rather donate straight to the school, or donate extra to help another kid go on a band trip or field trip, because we had the means. No sense in some third party getting a cut of the money if we were going to spend it anyway. I agree with this idea. I don't like fundraisers for a few reasons.... 1. Everyone does them.....which basically negates the point of them as they are done for a plethora of reasons, many of which are not really justifiable. It's just an excuse to get free money. 2. The people that really end up benefiting is the fundraising company itself. (so if your fundraiser does not go through a 3rd party, you are exempt from this point) 3. You can actually make more money from a job. 4. In many cases, it's worth it to just pay the stupid money for your kid to do whatever than spend tens of hours trying to sell so much stuff. That's not to say I'm against all fundraisers...but I think people jump on the fundraiser bandwagon WAY too quickly these days thinking that is the best option to raise money...and that is not necessarily true. There exists a mentality today of the way to get something is fundraiser only with no regard to getting a job or paying for the item yourself when it is not so much a needy item but a bonus item. Example: Fundraiser for the women who are pregnant and have no where to go is good. That is a real need. Fundraiser for Joe Cool in high school so he can go visit another country.... or the school can get tablets.....NO....get a job and buy your own bonus items yourself. StMichael
Most parents and certainly the girls, have no clue to a connection with PP. Girl Scout troops can opt out of having God in their oath, while other will have God in their oath. The girls are learning things, many good and selling cookies for a fund raiser is not a bad thing, especially if we can't see how this might be helping PP. There is another group, can't recall the scout name, that is all about God. Tough call, as this is a lesson for little girls and getting rebuffed by adults because we know what they don't is a tough one. Think the price for a box is around $4. Autumn Dusk
I HATE begging kids. If they want to come over and shovel my driveway, rake leaves, wash my car....build a garage (kidding!!!) then I'll pay them. But selling cookies someone else made is boarder line begging. I support the boyscout car washes because the boys (not their parents) actually do the work.

StMichael
It is kept very quiet as to the relationship. In May 2012, the Catholic Bishops were to investigate this relationship as per this article: http://www.lifenews.com/2012/05/10/bishops-to-investigate-girl-scouts-planned-parenthood-ties/ It also appears as though their is an internal struggle as seen here at this site: http://www.honestgirlscouts.com/ A few other links: http://speaknowgirlscouts.com/index.php?p=1_20_Planned-Parenthood http://www.girlscouts.org/gs_central/mpmf/faqs.asp Local chapters seem to have the option, or did, to partner with rogue outfits like PP. But as it stands, no one really knows, which means, in my opinion, that there is a relationship at the top of this organization, but I can't say if PP gains anything from the sale of these cookies. I just feel bad for the little girls, doing this with all their might to ask the question, would you like to buy some girl scout cookies? and turning them down without fully knowing. Don't feel bad. Just use the word "no". Some other smuck will be along to buy cookies.

Thank you for this post, brother. From my understanding the girl scouts pay planned parenthood for materials based on woman's health and taking care of your body. Women's health and taking care of your body are very important. Money goes into a common pool though. So no cookies for me.
