Orthodox Metropolitan Blasts Anglicans For Renouncing The Faith

I think a casual perusal of statements on this website that says it is loyal to the Magisterium of the Universal Church of Almighty God will not reveal very many moments where the Eastern Orthodox Church has been criticized, but a very great many where the Sacred Magisterium of the One True Faith has been criticized and there have been no harsh responses or even responses at all to denials of Papal Infallibility (a dogma of the faith), the Immaculate Conception (another dogma). And no one has even dared point out that recalcitrant Bishops (in communion with the Earthly Head of God's Church) even if they are called Patriarchs, and even if Rome is silent in response to their heterodoxy (in defiance of dogma and of canon law), are objectively guilty of grave sin. This is not a general statement. It is directed in a particular direction in response to particular circumstances that I'd be glad to devote my time to listing for you if you would like Selah. :)

Actually, if you look at archives, you'll find a few instances where this has happened, including one moment where the Coptic Pope of Alexandria was called an "anti-pope."

As a Catholic, you are more than welcome to disagree with Eastern theology. But I do get upset when I see scandals going on in the Roman Catholic Church and people commenting on status updates, "I'm so sick of the attacks on my church". Attacks on your church? Are you serious? And that somehow makes you Anti-Catholic...

...Then, some Catholics turn around and criticize the Orthodox Church, like it's the only Church in history to ever persecute or victimize people or do something stupid.

If Mortify wants to lump all Russian hierarchs together, am I allowed to lump all priests together? Or does that make me Anti-Catholic? And if it does, is Mortify also Anti (At least Russian) Orthodox? Or is it "justified" somehow?

No one should have called the Coptic Pope an anti-pope, that's frankly, well, no I will not be frank.

I am quite aware that I am free to disagree with Eastern theology. Pleased to see the lucid depths of our agreement.

Yes when people say they are sick of attacks on the Universal Church in response to the actions of a few horrifically monstrous priests and careerist bishops they are most likely quite serious. And yes attacking the Catholic Church does indeed make you anti-Catholic. And just for clarity's sake neither accurate coverage of this never-ending and well-deserved scandal nor just and reasonable outrage in response to it constitutes "Anti-Catholicism."

I have no response to the rest of your statements as they do not involve me. (I will clearly state that I have no quarrel with the East as such. Both lungs you know.)

But I'm not! A disagreement and sadness at the fact that the Catholic Church isn't dealing properly with the sex scandal does not make me Anti-Catholic. It makes me human. I'm just sick of the victimization so many Catholics show. "Oh my gosh, someone is upset about the sex scandal! Anti-Catholic!"

And please note that I won't consider you Anti-Orthodox for disagreeing, or thinking that persecutions lead by the Orthodox Church in the past (such as on the Old Believers) are wrong :)

My "you" for the Anti-Catholic statement was a general you. Not you Selah who I've never experienced as anything other than lovely. English is woefully impoverished.  Please don't assign me opinions though. I think the Russian Orthodox Church handled the Old Believers (look at the non-priestly sects) perfectly.

Yes, I agree. Which is why I prefer Spanish. A little more specific. It's not my native tongue, but I love to learn it and speak it.

We have this in common. Spanish, after godly things, is my passion.Though it's more fitting for me to pepper my English with pretentious little French trifles. (It fits my general cold unsociableness. :p )

You mean how if someone criticizes the Roman Catholic Church it's "Anti-Catholic" but if it's the Orthodox Church or Eastern Catholics that are criticized, it's perfectly okay?

I think Apo made a great point bringing up that example. Take the beam out of your own eye before your remove the speak in your brother's (this is just a general statement, not directed at you).

That'd be a good point if the very purpose of this thread was not about the Orthodox hierarchy criticizing the Anglicans for being spiritually feckless.  In which case I think that pointing out that the Anglicans have been less supportive of murderous, authoritarians thugs than the Orthodox hierarchy is very, very fair.

Judging and lumping all the Russian Orthodox hierarchy together is Anti-Orthodox, maybe even a bit bigoted.
