Allykatzlive
So some of you have read that I do work Assisted living as a CNA/QMAP(Medication Aide). Automatically people think I work with old people. Well I do sort of. I do take care of Mentally ill persons. Their ages range from mid 20's to mid 70's. I love the job. I feel like thier my family. They tell me funny things when they are a realtive healthy state. Other times, when they start to crash, it does make me really sad. However, I have some funny stories that I could tell. But I choose not to due to HIPPA. But If any one has questions about what its like to take care of people like this just ask me. If you have question about Mental illness feel free as well. I might be able to give an answer with proper backing eventaully(it might take a few days). Edited February 18, 2013 by Allykatzlive
Era Might
Have you ever heard of L'Arche founded by Jean Vanier? I'm sure you would be welcome.
Allykatzlive
Yes I have. Very very good organization. I got introduced to them though a K of C friend and a close priest friend. I also support the knights fundraiser for intellcaul disablities. In Fact, it is the only donation I make. Partly because it goes to a good cause but also I know that 100% of the proceeds got to various events and orgs.
HisChildForever
Is there a general diagnosis of the population you work with or is it mixed?
Allykatzlive
It is a mix. I can't tell you any diagnoses because that is private info under HIPPA.
Madiesensei
I can understand what you go through. I'm currently a nursing student and I've had a vast experience with many different types of patients with variety of diseases. God Bless you. How long have you been in the profession? homeschoolmom
It is a mix. I can't tell you any diagnoses because that is private info under HIPPA. Well, that's not exactly true. It would be just fine to say, "I work in a facility treating Alzheimer patients" etc. That is not violating anyone's privacy rights. Saying, "I work with Mrs. ___ and she's an Alzheimer patient" would.
Allykatzlive
Home School Mom, you are correct but they are now teaching us (at least at my school) especially with the internet available not to say much more than what I have said. It is due to someone( and we all know that everyone can just about have access to this site unless there is internet restrictions) can come on this site and they would know me and see that I have posted some of the illnesses that are treated at my facility. I happen to mention the one that their love one has and they may take it the wrong way. They may think that I was revealing their love ones diagnose even though I did not mention their name. I could lose my License just for something that simple and petty. It can be blown out of context, sadly enough. It just protecting our butts from people doing that sort of thing. Once again, You are still correct it just other people. Edited February 20, 2013 by Allykatzlive
