emma8201986
I don't think the nun with the nose ring is from another culture. I believe that I read somewhere that she is a Stanford educated attorney. I would love for someone to solve the "mystery of the nose ring."
Guest Allie
All I know is that I'm not wearing mine when I visit my monastery. :saint2: yes--I do really wear one most of the time and they come out just fine same as earrings. edited for spelling :sos: Edited March 5, 2013 by Allie

Don't those who where them see them as just a piece of jewelry, or is there some other meaning behind wearing them? :)

I know that people from other countries do go to Stanford and she looks like she could be foreign.

It is just jewelry which I love.I confess to being a fashionista (not a secret from Rev Mother Abbess :saint2: )however, since I'll be staying there for a few days and following the schedule as much as possible from outside the enclosure, it feels appropriate to dress simply. I won't be wearing any jewelry.

PrayerSupporter
For those who may be interested: Ignatius Press is printing an autobiography of Mother Dolores at the beginning of May. It is called The Ear of the Heart: An Actress' Journey from Hollywood to Holy Vows. Here's a link to the blurb about it: http://www.ignatius.com/Products/LH-H/the-ear-of-the-heart.aspx
GraceUk
From what I've read it sounds like a bunch of worldly women playing at being nuns. Sorry If I've got the wrong impression. But that's what it sounds like to me.
maximillion
The community does seem to be extraordinary in many ways, but not being on the inside I couldn't speak to their holiness - or possible lack of. The Church authorities must be the judge of that.
