PhuturePriest
Which ones have good records and which ones don't? I know of Cardinal Arinze, Cardinal Dolan, a tiny bit about Cardinal Oulette, and that's it. In the debate table because this will lead to a debate. :P
Nihil Obstat
RANJITH AND BURKE! You saw my thread on what Metropolitan Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith did in Sri Lanka. I hope he would do the same worldwide. ;) Both are very keen on the traditional Mass. Both excellent people. Cardinal Burke is one of the best canonists in the Church, or so I have read. SstrAli
GOOD CARDINALS: Cardinal Arinze Cardinal Bertone Cardinal Burke Cardinal DiNardo Cardinal Dolan And there is another African American Cardinal that is good, but cannot recall his name right now! Bertone had too much political ambition. He worries me. You are thinking of Turkson, from Ghana. African, not American. Also you are forgetting Ouellet. :) Edited February 16, 2013 by Nihil Obstat

I would recommend starting with their wiki articles, and an article on Bertone written by Sandro Magister.

Maggyie
It's not going to be Cardinal Burke though he would be fun! I really think they'll do the whole African or Latin American thing this time. However Cardinal Turkson gave an interview that left me pretty cold. I would love love LOVE Arinze but he's too old at this point I'm afraid. Does anyone know anything else about the "southern" cardinals?
Luigi
List of Living Catholic Cardinals - It's Wikipedia, so there's not a great deal of depth, but it's a good source for an introductory overview. Links within links let you pursue further information. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_living_cardinals
Nihil Obstat
Sri Lanka counts as the global south, I think. :proud:
Basilisa Marie
Dolan won't get it. It's gonna be Oulett, or someone from the southern hemisphere. I really hope they pull another JPII and pick someone we never saw coming. :) Oh and the cardinals all have wikipedia pages.

I didn't think this thread was about predicting who might become pope, but was instead simply asking for information about the various cardinals. What better way to see what a cardinal believes than to post a video where he states some of his views on controversial topics. Postscript: As far as predicting who will be elected pope is concerned, I have absolutely no idea who will get the required number of votes in the conclave.
