Apotheoun
More old news for Era Might. In 2009 the wonderworking Kursk Root icon of the Sign of the Theotokos, which had been secretly taken out of Russia during the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution, returned home for the first time in over 90 years. During its brief visit to Russia more than two million people came to venerate the icon, and a quarter of a million people participated in the procession of the icon in the city of Kursk. The video below shows excerpts from procession in Kursk, the city that had been the icon's home for more than six hundred years (from A.D. 1295 until 1918). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwfaUG67wy4

Apotheoun
they do the sign of the Cross backwards! Eastern Christians of the Byzantine Rite have made the sign of the cross ending on the left side (usually over the heart) from time immemorial. The video below of the Russian Patriarch shows how the sign is usually made: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFKhdGiT_bY The Patriarch ends the cross over the heart because the heart is the throne of the Holy Spirit. Era Might
Now if you could find some footage of Father Gapon leading the procession on Bloody Sunday 1905 that would be REALLY old news. Apotheoun
Now if you could find some footage of Father Gapon leading the procession on Bloody Sunday 1905 that would be REALLY old news. That would be very hard to find indeed, because I do not think it was filmed with motion picture cameras. I do not think there are any still photographs of the event either. Paintings YES, photographs, NO.
Evangetholic
I am obsessed with royalty and I have, believe it or not, Nicholas, Alexandra, Olga, Tatiana, Maria, and Anastasia in place of what lesser humans call emotional lives. Fr. Gapon is not a hero of mine. Era, why is that you seem to be picking on Apotheoun? Is this all in love and goodwill and I'm misunderstanding? Evangetholic
I left Aleksei out which by no means indicates a lack of love.

Evangetholic
Showing me any Orthodox liturgy is unfair, lol, but this one...Touches my monarchist urges and my love of Jesus.
Apotheoun
Showing me any Orthodox liturgy is unfair, lol, but this one...Touches my monarchist urges and my love of Jesus. The video is part of the actual glorification rite celebrated on 20 August 2000 in Christ the Savior Cathedral, but the person who posted the video edited this segment out of the movie entitled "The Romanovs: An Imperial Family," which can be seen in its entirety on Youtube (broken into 13 parts). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKd-Di88Uxk Part 1 - The Romanovs: An Imperial Family (with English subtitles)
