mortify
There is a lay Catholic theologian named Ron Conte who struck 15 minutes of fame when he predicted John Paul II's successor would be Pope Benedict XVI. That he did this prior to the actual election can be decisevely proved via the way-back-machine. Since then he has produced a general outline for world events that, to the say the least, has needed several revisions because the events did not come to pass. He now claims that the general outline is correct but the actual start of the Tribulation is hard to pin point because the known prophecies are too obscure. This has not deterred him however in declaring that the next Pope will likely be Cardinal Arinze and he will take the name of Pius XIII: "The next Pope will be Cardinal Arinze, who will take the name Pope Pius XIII. Pope Pius XIII requires all Catholics to believe and practice the Catholic Faith in order to receive Communion and be considered a faithful member of the Church. His teachings are entirely in accord with Tradition, Scripture, Magisterium, and yet most of the members of the Church reject him and leave the Church, in the great apostasy." http://www.catholicplanet.com/ It will be interesting to see what the next few weeks unfold! Basilisa Marie
Pius would be an obvious choice for Arinze, but I seriously doubt they'll elect an 80 year old.
Nihil Obstat
IMO Ron Conte is a bit of a wackjob. He has a few useful things to say about the sources of revelation, as well as levels of Magisterial authority. Outside of that I have found him to be dangerously inconsistent in the quality of his material. ESPECIALLY when it is vaguely eschatologically related. TL;DR: If anyone asked my advice on Ron Conte, I would say steer clear of him because his theology is not safe for many people.
4588686
The one methodological flaw is there there is no Holy Spirit to guide the Cardinals and consequently the teleology for this prediction to be contextualized by.

FutureCarmeliteClaire
I am pulling for Arinze as much as the next guy, but I'm not even sure if he can be elected due to his age.

thessalonian
here is another more compelling article. How about Cardinal Tarciscio Pietro (Peter in English), born in in Romano.......Can you say prophecies of malachy? http://www.wnd.com/2013/02/final-pope-already-running-vatican/#kWgOzlDKKL4PP4fg.99 Edited February 14, 2013 by thessalonian

He cautions us about the prophecies by almost every other visionary. Though having matured in Geo-science/physics stream I've develop a keen interest on the short term global prophecies by Maria Divine Mercy at http://www.thewarningsecondcoming.com/ most of which are unfolding in time and space such as the Spain earthquake, Volcanoes, assassination of Gaddafi (as I have personally confirmed with the visionary months before the event) and recently the departure of Pope Benedict XVI to happen much before the Warning event). Mr Ron Conte has as literally warned/dissuade us to view the website as it is not of Divine origin from heaven. Whereas most of his random predictions about the Warning etc. did not actually take place.

I have mixed feelings about Ron, sometimes I see a big ego in his writings but we have to remember he's not claiming to be a prophet. All he's saying is that he's a lay Catholic who has analyzed various prophecies and this is his opinion on how things will unfold. If Maria Divine Mercy is real then she will be our first anonymous prophet living a secular lifestyle. It's very convenient for her to live a secret life as a prophet, that way when the prophecies don't come true it creates no stain on her character. Regarding her prophecies where does she mention the departure of Pope Benedict or death of Gaddafi?

Before JPII died there was a whole hubub that he was going to be the last true pope. Benedict has left the papal seat and we're heading into end times again. Give me a break, things have been worse in history, we just get fed more crap now because we listen to internet loonies who would of been stoned 200 years ago. Regarding her prophecies where does she mention the departure of Pope Benedict or death of Gaddafi? I have done quite some research (with patience) about her prophecies, Gaddafi was one of those leaders announced in the message http://www.thewarningsecondcoming.com/rise-of-arab-world-3-world-leaders-to-be-assassinated/. ( She has personally confirmed me by mail about this name when I sought clarification as to whether Osama's tragedy fits in her prediction. That was months before the actual event). The departure of Pope Benedict XVI was foretold in http://www.thewarningsecondcoming.com/pope-benedicts-day-are-now-numbered/ and several other messages which can readily linked from the home website. I do find them amazingly correct.
