TheLordsSouljah
I posted this in Ask a Scholar (now slightly edited), but was probably way too long and winded for a short answer. I've been looking for some advice on this for some time.... does anyone know anything about it???? My devoutly Catholic grandmother has recently been following the messages of one who calls herself 'Maria Divine Mercy' (MDM) who claims that she is receiving locutions/visions with regard to the Second Coming of Christ (Last Judgement, etc). This MDM has written two books of these locutions that she started receiving in November 2010 and continues to receive. Apparently many priests and tens of thousands of Catholics at least are following and accepting these messages as from God and is becoming increasingly widespread (even through email forwarding....). While it promotes good things like the Rosary, fasting and the Divine Mercy Chaplet, it's central focus is on the end times and things that will happen, taking dating into consideration (she claims that 2011 was the first year of tribulation or something); I am afraid that people may be accepting what looks okay out of curiosity about the uncertain future. Most of what I have checked out looks like good material but there are a few things that seem quite 'off' to me. This is straight off 'The Warning' website: "Maria was told by Jesus that she is the 7th Messenger, the 7th Angel sent to reveal to the world the contents of the Seals in the Book of Revelation which can only be opened by the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ. He will open the Seals and reveal, in advance, the contents. Maria has to publish them as each Seal is opened. He has told her she is the end time prophet." Source: http://www.thewarnin...ming.com/about/ She also claims that God the Father has given her the Seal of the Living God - mentioned in Revelation 7 - and that 'this will give protection to those who accept it', my grandmother telling me that it will be like blood on the lintels of our doors at the Second Coming. Here is this seal:http://www.thewarnin...eal_English.pdf The rest is on the 'about' page and some of the 'messages' are uploaded. I want to believe this if it is truly from God and have tried to look into it a fair bit, but I am never at peace when I read anything about it. The seal thing is the first religious thing I have ever refused to take from my dear grandmother who I am very close to. There are wide rifts among the faithful and others about it's authenticity, however the Church has not yet given Her approval/disapproval. I want to be fair and unbiased and am only seeking the truth. Advice??
Basilisa Marie
Exercise caution. We do not know the day nor the hour when the end times will happen. You are completely free to not believe it, and are encouraged to be skeptical. Personally speaking, I don't think anyone who claims to be a modern-day prophet of the end times is true. He or she may be think they're telling the truth, but I don't think they're real.
Evangetholic
My devoutly Catholic grandmother too. Which is part of why I am here.
fides' Jack
The part that really worries me is this: "Maria was told by Jesus that she is the 7th Messenger, the 7th Angel" What is this even supposed to mean? I'm not an authority, but in matters like this I think it's usually more prudent to assume (hehe) that the messages are coming from the enemy, and that any legitimate such messages should come to us through the authority of the Church. In the matter of end times, I think a real 'warning' would have to proceed along those lines. Or is this could be legit and I'm an ignorant fool. ContemporaryCaflicCrusader
My sister's Father in law has us praying a binder of this stuff. It is the starting of our men's prayer group at our parrish. Now my parents believe it. It's seems harmless. I can't say one way or another if it's true or not though. TheLordsSouljah
Man, these messages and 'prophecies' are now having my grandmother is look me straight in the eye serious, telling me that the next Pope is most certainly going to be a bad one because the Holy Father was forced to resign by enemies from within the Vatican!! ... ...what??? Rejection time?

Evangetholic
http://www.thewarningsecondcoming.com/they-will-bring-gods-children-under-the-rule-of-the-little-horn-who-will-sit-in-pompous-splendour-in-the-seat-of-peter/ Pure heresy. The Church does teach a future apostasy from the faith, but this character is setting herself up to be essentially unrebukable by the compitent Ecclesiastical Authorities. And Jesus would never tell us to disobey Peter. "He who hears you hears me"
