ithinkjesusiscool
Anyone here who have had experience(s) with the 4 temperaments, the 5 temperaments, the Keirsey's temperaments or MBTI?
EmilyAnn
I'm a psychology major. But what do you mean by "experience"?
Basilisa Marie
I'm a phlegmatic-melancholic and an ISFP. Not sure about the "five" temperments. But I second EmilyAnn. What'd'you mean? :)
morostheos
Phlegmatic and INTJ here - but I wouldn't say I have "experience" other than taking the tests and reading about them.
Tony
I had a big MBTI thread a few months back, and someone else made a poll on another thread. I'm an INTJ. http://www.phatmass.com/phorum/topic/124070-meyers-briggs-personality-types/page-

EmilyAnn
Giving it some though, Myers-Brigg is not very useful as a measure of anything. The statistical validity is questionable. The research is heavily biased. The distribution in the scales shows a normalised distribution, not supporting the polar "type" concept. It assumes total participant honest and doesn't control for socially desirable answers (which various other measures do). It has shown a very low reliability. It is prone to confirmation bias. :P Edited February 11, 2013 by EmilyAnn

If people do it, it's better to focus on "cognitive functions" aka extroverted feeling, introverted perceiving, etc.

ithinkjesusiscool
What's wrong we the "infallible" MBTI? :'( And if you studied psychilogy you should know more about the word "experience" than I do!!! Btw, some of us study psychology, especially personality dissorders, to see how crazy we humans are. I guess Catholics don't like the idea of personality dissorders when you have demonology! B-)

B-) What's wrong with it? You mean aside from all the issues I've already mentioned? It's far from infallible. "Experience" is vague. I am a psychologist, not a linguist. There is an inherent danger in studying such subjects outside of an academic setting. Either a) you take everything at face value and fail to appropriately critique b) attempt self-diagnosis or c) fall into pop psychology that has no real validity or reliability. Or all three. Personality disorders are perfectly valid medical diagnoses. But the DSM is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination and is as flawed as any other science. PhuturePriest
A lot of the people here are introverted, for some reason. I am definitely extroverted. If I had five or six friends in my town I doubt I would ever be on the internet, but alas, all my friends live a respectable distance away.
