Debra Little
I was reading the Bible and remembered something my sister said to me not long ago. "In heaven there are no denominations." It's too bad that there are so many now. But one thing about this stood out to me. I was remembering all my years from the time I was a child and until 1987, when I was confirmed in the Catholic Church. Thinking back to those times, I remember always having a spirit of confusion. Who was right and who was wrong? Or at at least who was the most right? Now I see this differently. For me it is a question of spiritual safety. All the years I spent as a Protestant there was only one thing that was clear to me, and it is the most important. A personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Also, I had been to so many different churches and heard so many different doctrines that it only served to confuse me all the more. When I first walked into a Catholic church I did so to pray. I knew that all the other churches would have their doors locked and a Catholic church was my only bet if I wanted to find one open. I was working a volunteer job at the time and after work I walked to the Catholic church a few blocks away. I sat and then knelt in a back pew and prayed. Then I heard this noise. People were coming in. Then I saw Father walk to the alter. I moved closer up front so I could hear. The first Mass I heard I had tears streaming down my face. I knew I was home. Soon after that I sought out where classes would be held. A friend brought me every weekend and his family went to Mass at that parish during my classes and confirmation. Now I realize something that has become very important to me. I no longer feel the confusion I used to feel in all those Protestant churches. There are not many different ideas floating around. Sure we all have our own opinions but there is only one teaching of the faith. How could anyone go wrong with this? It is such a huge safety net for us. We can always be assured that we will be led in the truth of God in the Catholic Church. The Holy Spirit would not let them lead us astray. And those who do go astray Our Lord gently guides back to Himself and to the Church. And to those who would teach another faith or things not found in our faith, the Lord will deal with. I believe He will not let us be con- fused by them. As long as we are seeking Him and Him alone!

Honour
Wow, I know this confusion of Protestant denominations well. And the safety and wholeness of the teaching of the Catholic church. These feelings are what made me seek conversion. It's been a long journey, but I know I will be one day Catholic, hopefully sooner than later!
