BG45
Kickstarter Open Source Death Star Description: We need to protect ourselves from threats far far away so lets build a death star. In November 2012 the people asked for a death star. The government said NO! In light of continuing threats we should build it ourselves. With a deadline of April Fools Day, a young man in the UK has proposed an open source Death Star to defend the Earth. Let's face it, nothing says planetary defense like the ability to blow up a planet. He'll never hit his goal, therefore the money will go back to the donors. Goal £20,000,000 for more detailed plans and enough chicken wire to protect reactor exhaust ports. Stretch Goal £543,000,000,000,000,00 ($850,000,000,000,000,000) to secure full funding for actual construction. Open Source To keep costs lower the entire project will use open source hardware and software. Risks and challengesLearn about accountability on Kickstarter The only risk is the power of the Force. The main challenge is assuring Kickstarter that this is a joke and not a serious project. As proof, the goal has been set high enough to make successful funding almost impossible. Augusta
I think the guy building the full-scale Millenium Falcon has a better chance of finishing. Obviously. :smile4: -AK P.S. http://fullscalefalcon.com/
Honour
This is awesomeness, but seeing as kick starter projects are notorious for busting deadlines (where's my Pebble?) I see it unlikely to deliver on time. Edited February 9, 2013 by Honour
