Peace to you all...

So in the thread of 'If God doesn't exist.' I worte the meaning for GOD to me is charity, that GOD takes me outside of myself into the realm of community. Also i would like to say another thing i believe about charity is that sure everyone needs food, clothing, something to cook there food with, and clean water, to give these or the money to obtain these are all acts of charity, but i believe there is a deeper charity in the cries of the needy.  The man whom with the grace of God started the Larsche community for disabled and mentally ill. When he was first investigating his calling he wen't to a mentaly ill hospital and says the biggest cry he heard from just about everyone there was " will you be my friend." I believe this is not only for the poorest of poor like these, but also for the wife and children of the rich man whom died at the age of 55 from cancer, her cry is also "will you be friend", or another example the middle class husband and wife whos only son is a drug and alcohol abuser possibly left home and never seen or at home and very sick, again there cry is not only for the basics of life but also "will you be my friend." For the alcoholic or drug addict who want's to be clean and sober but keeps stumbling " will you be my friend."

I was told in studying religion growing, and I like what you said btw, charity and love is one and the same.  And Chris Padgett (Former lead singer from The Scarecrow and Tinmen) summed it up best I think:  "Love is 100% Self donation."  And I say bingo.  It is complete selflessness.
