carmenchristi
My favourite is Op 27 no 1, in C# minor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AnliU1bMKY :P Out of those 2 though, I think I like the second one (op 55 no 2)... today at least. It really depends on my mood. I love all the nocturnes though. I want to learn them all eventually. I like c# minor too, but that's not on the menu. ;) since it is one that is played often, the prof doesnt give it out because he is sick of hearing it. my third choice was but I liked it least of the three..... It's also the easiest and shortest of them but I'm pretty conviced to go with the Db. Err link didn't work. Trying again. And again http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eUNaDgTXORs&sns=em Edited February 8, 2013 by carmenchristi

My teacher was surprised when I told her I wanted to learn the c# minor nocturne and that it was my favourite. She said her students rarely picked it and that it was probably one of the less popular nocturnes. (The posthumous c# nocturne on the other hand is really popular though, my teacher called it "one of those pieces you have to learn".. It was my first nocturne ) Maybe she just has weird students! Db major is a good choice :) My teacher wants me to learn it after the c# one because they're in the same set (op 27) and she likes to hear them played together. One of my favourite recordings of the Db major: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cxkLZoEFEk

I was totally thinking of the posthumous one.... Automatic thought ;) it's an interesting piece, tragic as c#minor denotes.... Worth spending the time to learn! Best wishes for that!
