OnlySunshine
I can't really be of much help or offer much advice on this. I'm looking into secular schools because I've found good programs in various specialty fields of medicine sorely lacking in most private Catholic schools. Or at least for what I'm looking for. Cognitive neuroscience with a compatible psychology program is just not something I've been able to find in a Catholic school so far. ;) Anyway, before I started seriously considering the neuropsychology route, I was really interested in Ave Maria. I've heard really great things about the school. This is off-topic, but you might try UCLA. When I visited there with my mom, we stumbled into the neuropsychiatry wing while we were trying to find her doctor. We were in the wrong building. :hehe2: Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD is also another great school with both programs. BTW, College Board's College Search is a very helpful resource. You can put in the major or majors that you want and what type of school, tuition rate, etc. and it brings up a list of matching schools. https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/college-search

Haha, that's funny. JHU is my top pick right now. I basically have a few years to become a genius in order to get in... Lol :)
ToJesusMyHeart
What about Aquinas College in Nashville, TN? It's run (and was founded by) the Nashville Dominicans. It's actually cheaper than FUS and Ave Maria. Their theology program is rock-solid and they are a liberal arts school. They are recommended by the Newman Guide. http://thenewmanguide.com/TheNewmanGuide/RecommendedColleges/AquinasCollege.aspx If I could choose my college over again, I'd go here. Tufsoles
I wouldn't suggest UD. I have meet some grads from there and they seems a little social inept and a little off the wall. I think that it is real important for people degrees in theology have some great social skills. But maybe I ran into the wrong people. I also found they can't write well. I.E. worse than I do. And the tuition isn't all that great either. This was just a personal experience.
Amppax
I can comment on Student/Res Life here at Franciscan, considering it's my job. You have to live in the dorms, basically. It's really hard to get an exemption to live off campus unless you're a senior. So if finances are a worry, please take that into account. It's really about $28K a year to go here, and there aren't many scholarships. That being said, it is possible to make it work financially, you just really have to work hard to do so. I'm currently an RA and receiving several scholarship/grants and a tiny bit of loans. I'll graduate a year early with (hopefully) very little debt. There are ways to make it work, you just have to get creative. The household system which LadyofSorrow mentioned Ave has is modeled off of the one here at Franciscan. I'd try to explain households, but the university does a solid job of that so here's a link. http://franciscan.edu/Households/ I'm in a household (actually it's the one in the video on the website where the people look like their in a living room) and I believe Slappo was as well. Households do a great job of providing community in the dorms and on campus. There really are a million and one things to do on campus; there's almost always something going on. Steubenville isn't a great place to hang out, but Pittsburgh's not far. I hardly ever left campus last year, and I usually wasn't bored. The Res Life policy's take a little getting used to, especially if you're familiar with other colleges. We have a fairly strict policy regarding visitation, but it's fairly reasonable in my opinion. I could answer specific questions about what its like to live in the dorms. I'm sure I could say much more. I love it here, and would really recommend it. I wasn't a fan of Ave when I visited, but I can't really comment beyond that because I haven't spent much time there. I've visited the Mount, but never for classes. It's a beautiful campus. Other than that, I haven't heard of the other one's on your list, so I can't comment.
tinytherese
I haven't been to these schools, but have you considered Newman University which is in Wichita, KS or Holy Cross College in South Bend, IN? I highly DO NOT recommend St. Gregory's University in Shawnee, OK. I know that it's on the Newman Guide, but that in and of itself doesn't that it's a good school. I could write a long rant about their bad theology program, campus ministry, and other aspects of the school. I got my BA in theology there and wish I would have gone elsewhere. Speaking as someone on the spectrum myself, I can say that what many people think is common sense in behaving socially isn't typically obvious to us. Not a lot of people are well-informed about it and know how to properly address it, sadly this can happen a great deal in schools and colleges are no exception. I'm sorry if this seems intrusive! If you don't want to answer that's totally fine. :)
GeorgiiMichael
I can't speak much on the Theology program at the Mount, and I definitely can't add anything to what Basilia has said. All of my best friends have theology degrees from the Mount, and despite some more different-thinking professors, they are all extremely orthodox. From what I can discern, the Mount doesn't shy away from the more "liberal" theologies; rather they get you acquainted with them, which allows you to have a better understanding of the whole of current theology, which would give you a leg up in defending orthodoxy. The Mount led me to my conversion and has a host of orthodox students and a vibrant community of good Catholic students.

Tufsoles
Tinytherse, it is a possiblity. I have a couple friends that have Asperger's and thier symptoms are not alike. It is hard to diagnose from what I understand so people that dealt with them directly may have considered them aloof at times and not think that they actually have a prob. It is a possiblity. BTW, my two friend have flourished with thearpy and many would not suspect that they had a prob.
qfnol31
I know several people who graduated from the University of Dallas. Some could not write very well, but most could. The school prides itself on academic rigor. The problem with students there happens in high school most of the time, not so much with the college experience. However, this is off topic. If you don't want to answer that's totally fine. :) I'm not sure how I would personally react to being asked if I'm on the spectrum. That would probably depend on who asked, how they go about discussing the issue, and how much they know about the condition. I imagine that a lot of people would be offended because of the great deal of misunderstanding that there is on the condition. The media bringing up that the shooter at Newtown might have been on the spectrum certainly doesn't help matters. I found out that I was on the spectrum last December when I wanted to know if I had any learning disabilities. After being tested for learning disabilities, the psychologist still wasn't sure about me and referred me to do even more testing with a specialist who told me that I was on the spectrum. Afterwards I educated myself on the subject and see that it's nothing to be afraid of.
