It has been brought to my attention the mysisterisalittlesister is a fellow Irish dancer, so I decided to start an Irish danc thread. Please, I'm begging you, don't drive this into the ground by posting obnoxious Irishman jokes, leprechaun pics, extraneous information about the ND Irish, etc. I actually would like this to stay alive for at least a little while ;)
So, about my personal Irish dance history. I started it because I'd seen Lord of the Dance on a video and really liked it. My first lesson was a few days after I turned 10, so I guess that would be 2008.
Since then, I've been in many public and private, proper and impromptu, shows and formal recitals. For my first 3 years, I was at a non-competitive dance school with small performances and one large June recital. Then I joined a competitive school because I wanted to enter feisanna (plural of "feis" which is an Irish dance competition). I've been there for about 1.5 years. So far I've been in two competitions, which were very easy because they were beginner level (you have to start at beginner even if you start after a few years of dancing). Because the cost of the competition, to me, outweighs the benefits of the feis (motivation to practice and the chance of winning glory), I have decided that in high school I'll probably return to the non-competitive school. Perhaps I'll be able to assume a teacher's assistant position, or some such job.
I get absolutely exhilarated when I learn some new move or step and execute it well and correctly!
On my YouTube channel I have a few ID (irish dance) videos, as well as one on my dresses.
I don't have a "solo dress" because I haven't gotten in be right rankings for one yet, and it could possibly prove too costly.
I'll continue posting stuff as I have time/remember, including pictures and videos.

My only tie to the Irish is my high school back in Ohio being the fighting irish...But I can still really dig some Irish dance music.

I can do the worm.  The most stressful part of being in my sisters wedding was knowing I had to legit dance.  I am of Irish decent, but I am afraid I do not have much to add here either.

My primary school (St. Patrick's) had an Irish dancing team. I danced with them once, as far as I remember. St. Patrick's Day is pretty big here, so we get a few dancers around then.

As a person with an Irish background and many Irish friends, I love it!  :irish:

Yay! Another Irish Dancer!!! I've never gone to any competitive  schools, just a couple non-competitive ones. Now I teach irish dancing to little kids with my sister. I love teaching them and seeing them get better and better at it :)
