eagle_eye222001
We live in a neighbourhood filled with broken people so most kids have grown up in broken homes with broken parents. On any given day I'm mothering half a dozen kids. They call me mamma bear. I never know when I'm going to have to take a kid home from cadets because no one showed up to pick them up, or give a kid a lift to school because their bus pass got stolen and it's -40 outside. Two days ago it was a kid who got sick at Zach's school and needed a ride to the clinic. Principal called and knew I'd pick her up. I'm starting to think I'm the only stay at home mom in Downtown Edmonton. At least the only one staying home who's not smoking dope. You're a hero for some, and model for many. :crusader2:
AnneLine
Catherine, Sister Mary Catharine,OP of teh Summit Dominicans once made the comment that Nuns are like God's stay-at-home-moms. People need to know that when they need help someone is there. To pray for them, pick them up, love them to life, and feed them full. Strikes me you are SMC's compatriot in God's type of crime. We do need more of you. Can I join you.... How about the rest of you....
CatherineM
Just an update. The man we are bidding against is actually the deceased man's roommate. He's an ice road trucker who is only home a couple of times a week. He basically told us he is becoming a surrogate father to her, has been taking her out drinking every night, and she was going to sell to him. He's been intercepting our notes to her and refused to give us her phone number. We got her number from the funeral home. At first we thought we should just walk away. One of the side affects of Austin's illness is that he doesn't get hidden agenda or nuance. It also means he doesn't have normal off buttons. He can actually do things like ask directions or ask someone personal questions that would freak the rest of us out. So he called her. Turns out that the guy is trying to talk her into selling it to him for less than half what it is worth. She's talking to the lawyer this week, and we have offered to pay the appraised value. We have been pre approved for the loan and have 20% saved for the down payment. Finalizing the loan can be complicated because our income isn't traditional. CatherineM
Well, he met our offer. He's an ice road trucker who makes 200 grand a year, so he can outbid us. At least the daughter is going to get a fair price now. We are going to just save money until it becomes available again, or the three bedroom across the hall. Austin is disappointed that he put so much work into the paperwork. I suspect that this is God's way of telling us that we have enough kids for now.
