CatherineM
Posted in open mic to make sure all my Pham sees it. It looks like we are going to be in a bidding war with someone using underhanded tactics for the unit next door. We need the room for our growing family. We can't simply move to a bigger house. We have to live in a handicap accessible place because I'm gimpy, and those are rare in Edmonton. If its not to be, then I'll accept God's will. I just don't want to lose it without a fight. I thought maybe if you guys prayed for us to either get it, or to help us accept the disappointment if we don't, that would really help.

CatherineM
I spent the evening with one of Zach's friends. He has epilepsy pretty bad and just spent a month in a coma. We assumed it was because of a bad seizure. It was actually a suicide attempt. He was raised without a mom by a cocaine addict dad. He attempted suicide because his dad told him his mom had originally committed suicide because she didn't want to raise a pos son like him. When he woke up from the coma, his dad brought him a steak knife and told him that if he wanted to commit suicide, that he should do a better job next time. He told me lots of stories about his dad growing up. This is a kid who played junior soccer for team Alberta, won a silver medal at Nationals and his dad missed him getting a hat trick because he was off getting high. I just had to hold him. This is a 18 year old boy who has never known the hug of a mom. I want to tear parents apart who hurt kids.
AnneLine
Oh Catherine, I am so glad that the Holy Spirit had the use of your arms, ears and heart today. I know what you mean about wanting to rip parents like that to shreds. I can remember a few kids in the home for prob kids who had comparable tales... and it is so hard to listen and hold and love in the midst of all of that. Have a friend who is at adoration right now, and I agreed to pray with him while he was there...... so right now both of us are putting your young friend -- and you -- into the arms of the One who is best equipped to heal his heart. What a gift and ministry you have... and you are getting more 'kids' than you ever dreamed, aren't you.... God bless you and Austin and Zach for building a home where these hurt teens can come and find some hope.......

CatherineM
We live in a neighbourhood filled with broken people so most kids have grown up in broken homes with broken parents. On any given day I'm mothering half a dozen kids. They call me mamma bear. I never know when I'm going to have to take a kid home from cadets because no one showed up to pick them up, or give a kid a lift to school because their bus pass got stolen and it's -40 outside. Two days ago it was a kid who got sick at Zach's school and needed a ride to the clinic. Principal called and knew I'd pick her up. I'm starting to think I'm the only stay at home mom in Downtown Edmonton. At least the only one staying home who's not smoking dope.
