AnneLine
Hullo! I am NOT alone in the Kitchen!!! YOU can have whatever you want to eat or drink while you are here! That's a good question, and I hoped someone would ask it! Actually, it took about an extra 10 minutes to snap the photos. What took the extra time was AnneLine learning how to put them onto the Internet. It is something I wanted to do for a while, but I am an IDIOT about computers and internet, and I kept getting the process messed up. Finally a well-known Phatmass Artist took pity on me and literally coached me through uploading about 4 photos until I finally had the process down. I may not have it down cold yet... .but I'd say it is NOW ifluke warm and the temperature is dropping fast! Posting the pictures took me about a half an hour.. but I was getting a lot faster. I have the Tuesday Photo session ready to go... so you can see how quickly I post them by judging them from.... now!
AnneLine
Humph. I had a WHOLE page ready to go and closed it accidently. So.... Let's try this again..... Starting... NOW!
AnneLine
Grrrr... had a whole page drafted and I closed the wrong window. Oh well... try again.... DAY 2 - MONSTER CLOSET CLEAR Picking back where we left off.... 15 minutes..... go! 12 seconds into the 15 minute challenge. Yanked out a bunch of stuff and set it in piles next to the closet. Yes, there really IS a floor in there!!!! You doubt me? Well.... here all that stuff is! More bags, a bunch of umbrellas, MORE fabric and fallen clothes... and the hangers they fell off of. Oh... and a big empty plastic box. with a cover... I don't even remember that going INTO the closet! Well... the floor is clear. Still some stuff to sort through, but this is amazing.... Only 4 and a half minutes left. Yes, the closet is empty, but look at all the junk. I will NEVER be able to get it put away in 4.5 minutes... or will I???? ............... continued... AnneLine
.......... continued... SO... here's the status of the closet at the end of the 2nd Day and an additional 15 minutes of decluttering: Umbrellas now have a home.... soon will have to start culling clothing, but for today, I'm just enjoying seeing the floor... Still have a few moments to spare.... Yup, the closet is clear. Now where did all the other stuff get to? Well.... Some of it went in the TRASH.... Some of it will be being GIVEN AWAY... 1.23 minutes left... Outside the closet is empty again.... 52 more seconds.... (NOTE TO SELF: Getting the carpets cleaned goes on next month's Living Room do list!) MOST of it got put away... it was just tossed in there, and were lost. They needed help to go HOME. Found about 5 articles of clothes we thought were lost! If they don't fit any more, they may join the 'give away' pile in a box in the basement.... for now, they are waiting to be ironed. AND THAT IS IT.FOR TODAY.. with 25 seconds left!!!!!!! AND, AnneLine has learned the skill of uploading photos at the same time!!!!! TWO GOALS DOWN! ........................... :congrats: :juggle: :congrats: And... thank you again to my photo uplinking tutor!!!!
AnneLine
this almost seems like overkill after the last few posts... but.... well, you've seen it in action! FLYLady's 10th Day Today we learn the power of 15 minutes. This step gives us permission to STOP doing something after 15 minutes. You CANNOT restart the timer after the 15 minutes. It is NOT a race to finish in 15 mins. The point of setting the timer is to keep us focused on what we are doing. Starting today, add a 15 minute declutter mission to your daily Routine, either in the morning or evening. FOR TODAY: Spend 15 minutes picking up all the trash you can find, and throw it away in the garbage can outside. BONUS: Now set the timer for another 15 minutes, and put your feet up and read a magazine or book until the timer goes off. The power of 15 minutes can be used for anything! MORNING ROUTINE: Dress to shoes and say Good Morning to God Check your Control Journal Read your FlyLady emails or check her websiteRecognize negative voices and change them Spend 5 minutes doing a room rescue Put out hot spot for 2 mins Spend 15 minutes Decluttering each day--You choose morning or evening. You can't organize clutter. (If your house is already decluttered, do 15 minutes in the Zone here....) EVENING ROUTINE: Shine your sink before you go to bed and review your day Put out your hot spot Lay out clothes for tomorrow and say Good Night to God

AnneLine
Promised a few of you that I would post this today --- LOTS of us seem to be expecting A VISITOR today or this weekend!!!! Me too!!!! BUT YOWIE!!! I'm not ready!!!! ENTER.... There is no better moment than this to tell you all about FLYLady's 'crisis cleaning' podcast. It literally talks you through a one hour marathon of cleaning of kitchen, living room and bathroom. And I am GONNA USE it! (But I will not be photographing this time... use your imaginations! Here it is! The podcast is funny, and it will prompt you to the job REALLY WELL!!!!! http://www.blogtalkradio.com/flylady-tools/2008/04/04/crisis-cleaning The irony is that the opening lines work really well if you substitute 'NAME OF YOUR VISITOR' for 'Mother-in-Law"! This is what she says.... "Well, hello everybody. I'm going to set the stage for you. Here's the scenario: Your mother-in-law has just called and she is coming in an hour. What do you do now? And I have an answer for you. It's called Crisis Cleaning 101 and I am going to talk you through it, we're going to set some timers, we are going to take care of ourselves in the process, and we are not going to panic. Now let me reiterate that: we are not going to panic...." And then she just tells you exactly what to do... and it is done. (And here are the same instructions in writing if you don't want her to talk you through it step by step! http://www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/flying-lessons/crisis-cleaning/ And it really does work. Have used it with an ACTUAL mother-in-law, so preparing for ANY VISITOR should be a piece of cake! Have a good day, everyone!!!!!!
AnneLine
Friday of the 3rd Week (OK, I'm a day behind on my posting...human here...) Hi, Everyone. I spent my 'decluttering' time on Thursday removing clutter from the front entrance and clipping down the hedge in front of our home. It took longer than 15 minutes -- but It felt really good to finally get to it -- I have been putting doing this off for months. One thing I am noticing is that when I do most of the flylady plan each day, I have enough time to notice what needs to be done tomorrow.... and not stress over it. Plan for it over a few days, in fact! (And, yes, I do miss a few steps almost every day. I'm doing better than I was... and I am learning the value of humbly admitting when I am trying to do too much.) One of FLYLady's favorite comments is "HOUSEWORK DONE IMPERFECTLY STILL BLESSES YOU FAMILY." I think she is right.... :) Today's task is to throw away all the flylady emails. I haven't been able to make myself do that. But my compromise is the put them into a separate folder in my email called 'FLY Lady Keepers' -- when I get discouraged or frustrated, I look in there for inspiration. You might try that too! Assembling Stuff You will need for the 4th Week Week 4 A write-on calendar AND FLYLady's 12th Day Today delete all the emails you have received from Flylady. They will all return another time,,,, MORNING ROUTINE: Dress to shoes (and say Good Morning to God!) AnneLine
Thank you, Brandeylynmarie! ^^^ Glad you are finding what I am posting helpful! You say you are about to 'jump back on' -- sounds like you tried FLYLady at least once before. I have been on and off this trolley a few times... but you know... it gets faster and easier to get on every time... Has anyone else had that experience? Feel free to share your stories.... ............................................~~ + ~~ Monday of the 4rd Week (OK, I'm little slow on my posting...human here...) Sorry it has been a few days since I have had a chance to update this thread. Had a few mini-emergencies that had to be dealt with, but all is well in AnneLineLand now.... I promise to get those photos of the closet clean posted tomorrow... But let me get my thread caught up first... a report about last week, and, in case anyone is wondering, give you some ideas about what will be going on THIS week!!!!! ............................................~~ + ~~ Last week my challenges were the baths and one other room (the Monster Closet), and getting some tasks done for my Secular Order. I am happy to report we got EVERYTHING on the list finished and I stayed COMPLTELY SANE (well, as close to it as I ever do...) I even was ready for a guest on Friday Night after the Secular Order Meeting! Nothing was done 'perfectly' - but all of it was done 'well enough' -- and you know, that may be the secret to this thing.... because that way the focus is on the task, not how I LOOK when I am doing it or when it is done! I did get the closet finished -- and even had a little time to spare. I decided to save the last speck of closet work (sorting through some videos and deciding which of my WAY TOO MANY carry bags to keep for my 'project' for Week 5. I deliberately have left a few days at the end of the month for a special project that will make me feel good.... and THIS will do that for me his month! You'll find out more about what happened with the closet AND what I chose to hold till week 5 when I get the pictures of Wed-Friday posted for you, hopefully tomorrow! Tonight I want to get to bed more-or-less on time. My aim is for about an hour from now... so I need to turn off my computer in a bout a half an hour. :) I am LEARNING! I can't do it all in one day, but that is OK. Who told me I was supposed to be able to??? Oh. THEM. I should have known..... when I try to do wht 'they' tell me to do... I get down on myself, frustrated, try to do too much, and crash and burn. THIS cannot be from God. I know where THOSE THOUGHTS are from, and I am not gonna get sucked into it, with God's help, any more.... Anyone else want to take the pledge with me? ========================================================= We've actually been doing 'missions' ever since I started talking about doing the Zone work, but you might as well let FLYLady ease you into it if you haven't started them.... IF you hadn't started working on them... now is the day!!!!! FLYLady's 13th Day Today find one of Kelly's missions and go do it. They are fast and easy. This will help you to start to introduce you to breaking your home into zones to keep it clean. You can find the missions in the Launch Pad. http://www.flylady.net/c/lp.php MORNING ROUTINE: Dress to shoes (and say Good Morning to God!)
