Nail polish question.

I had some on for but a week and had to take it off today for a show I'm in this weekend and next. Does anyone know why it is that whenever I take nail polish off, my nails get really nasty. I'm not talking about chipping. I'm talking about like layers of nail peeling off and breaking. It's almost like I have to let my nails heal before I do them again.

Any tips?

how are you taking care of your nails and cuticles? get a good cuticle oil or cream, along with a good hand cream, and a nail strengthening base coat. every night before bed, use the cuticle oil/cream and the hand cream.

Are you using a good basecoat?  Do you get enough vitamins? Do you use lots of dark colors? Ever let your nails heal completely before loading up the polish?

Always wear basecoat. Find one that has nail strengthening and stuff like that. I have a Rimmel one (don't know if you can get that in the US) that makes my nails amazing. Also look at Sally Hansen, they have some awe.some nail care stuff. I used the Miracle Cure when my nails were terrible and it really helped.

I've also found that buffing my nails (about once a month) made them much better in that regard. And don't pick at or peel your nail polish.

Speaking of nails, have any of y'all ever had fake nails done? I'm talking gel or acrylic ones, not the kind you do yourself.

I'm thinking of getting them done as a motivation for me to grow my nails out (nail biter here) and then to stop them from breaking once they do grow out (which happens every time).

I'm terrible to my nails.

This.

I do none of the stuff y'all suggested, so I'll have to do that.

I've had them done a few times for special occasions. They did a lot of damage when I removed them. It might help with the biting but I don't think it will help with breakage. I mean, while you have them on they probably won't break, but if you decide you want to have your natural nails long once you've broken the biting habit they're still going to break. I'll have all my nails long, roughly the same length, It could be that way for weeks and weeks and then something dumb will happen like I nick one while grating cheese or break it while I'm taking out the trash.

Nail polish on my nails or I look like a bag lady.

1. There is nothing wrong with bag ladies.
2. That sounds awfully judgmental of bag ladies.
3. That sounds vain.

:o it's like I don't even know you anymore!

Really? REALLY? It took this? :|
