Tantum Ergo
Every picture taken of him will have a copyright. You just have to find a picture that the copyright-holder says is ok for you to use. What are you going to use it for? You could use advanced search on Flickr to find pictures. Under advanced search, type in dalai lama and click the "creative commons" button. That will give you search results with the creative commons license, which you can usually use as long as you credit the photographer.

arfink
Here is a search tool which lets you search by creative commons license. http://compfight.com/search/dali-lama/1-3-1-1 There are a couple good shots. Keep in mind that creative commons licensing does place some obligations on you! You will almost always need to give attribution to the original author in the way the author demands. This is most often a snippet of HTML which creates a link to their website and includes their name. Also very often the image is restricted in other ways, such as it may not be used commercially. You need to read these terms! Fortunately Compfight does a very good job of laying those terms out for you, and even helpfully provides automatically generated HTML script which can be used to provide credit. :)
