jazzytakara
I was just wondering about certain sinful bad habits (non-specific). Are we able to confess them and obtain forgiveness even if the bad habit is a weakness for us to overcome. I don't mean going to confession with the intention to sin again, but more so an acknowledgement of weakness in the face of temptation, and although you honestly do feel bad about the sin and want to never commit that sin again, you fear the habitual nature it has become may cause you to sin again? I'm in a situation where I let a certain sin become a bad habit so to speak, and my first confession is coming up. I want to stop the sin as I hate myself for it, but I worry as it has been something I have struggled breaking completely free from on my own. I need God's help to give me the strength and grace to free me from this sin. I have been trying to overcome it, but I fall sometimes. Its even a part of my Lenten goals to make try more proactive means at overcoming this sin and associated sins.
Theoketos
Confess only sins in kind and number. Though perhaps you may ask for advice in the confessional on over coming any certain kind of vice. Find a good spiritual director to discuss the habit.
