No smoking 'analog' cigarettes since December 1st!

Congratulations! :-)

I considered e-cigarettes, but they just seem so complicated and the investment is risky unless you're sure you'll like them, which I'm not. Plus, I think they're more expensive than patches, no?

I saw some e-cigs at the convenience store that were really cheap.  I think they were less than $5 but I'm not sure how much you get in a package.  You could try those to see if you like them before buying the more expensive kind.  :)

Exactly why I don't know what I'm doing.

And this would be why I started it! ;)

Yeah, my fasting certainly won't be dietary! I should probably work on offering it up, though. Mostly I just whine about it...And exactly the same here about the prayer time. I think of stuff I coudl do, then think, "I should do that, anyway!" And then I don't. So, maybe I should start for Lent and keep going with it. I might try to add going to Adoration on Fridays, as they have that at our parish from 8 to noon, and I feel less obnoxious bringing the little man there, since it's in a whole big Church, and not a tiny chapel.

Hm... Maybe you could read a book like The Story of a Soul every day, or something that focuses on Christ? One thing I know some people do is they quit doing something they have a bad habit of, like complaining or gossiping. FYI, I'm not saying those are problems you have (I honestly have no clue), but if you sometimes struggle with them it couldn't hurt to give them up.

Only have about 2 mins right now, but I am thinking about re-doing the most powerful Lenten program I have done in my life... I'm thinking of doing the Fly Lady 30 day challenge.

'FlyLady' (Marla Cilley) is a woman who has a 'ministry' to help people get their lives back in control and balance -- she aims it at people who live in 'CHAOS' - can't have anyone over syndrome.   It's designed to get a household, or a student's life, or a job into proper focus and alignment one simple habit a day.  It starts very slow... and builds.. and by the end of the 30 days (give or take a few) one has a good basic set-up of habits.

The tough thing -- and some days it is REALLY tough -- is doing very simple things just because this arbitrary person told you to do it.  That's humbling, guys...

I've used it in my own life - and I know when I follow her suggestions, I have time for God, for my home, for me... and I don't feel stressed or resentful.  It transformed my marriage... adn I use a version of it to help our Secular Order members get their lives set up well to serve God.

But... I've fallen off the fly wagon in recent months, and I need to get back on it... so that's my Lenten plan.

I would love to have some other people who'd like to do it with me.  We can add a spiritual component to it super-easy.....  I'll be posting a thread for getting set-up to start in a day or so.... not sure if it should be in open mic or lame board, however... thoughts?

I think I'm going to give up some really bad habits that I have, give up sweets (except I might allow myself to have a Snapple on Sunday), and I will pray more often. Also, I want to follow the Little Way better than how I have been. :)

I hope to deepen my spiritual life through a lot of prayer and some fasting.

Eating a lot of fish sandwiches.

Mmmm!  I love McDonald's Filet-O-Fish Sandwich!

Even though I'm gluten-intolerant and shouldn't have the bun or the breading, I indulge sometimes.  It's worth a stomachache, in my opinion.  ;)

I have yet to find a food that is worth getting sick from the gluten after eating...

I don't like fish, especially fake McDonald's fish. I especially wouldn't like the McDonald's sandwich because it has nasty mayonnaise lathered all over it. If you have to cover up "meat" that much in order for it to taste good, it says something about your product.

I would like to keep my sacrifices private, but one thing I wanted to share (so that maybe it would encourage others to do the same!) is that on Feb. 20th is the starting date for preparation for total consecration to Jesus through Mary to be able to make the consecration for March 25th; the Feast of the Annunciation. It would be something to pray about if you haven't done this before and you still have time to decide. This will be my first time and I'm very excited! :)

Very nice!  Monfort or Kolbe?  Or some other flavor of consecration?

I'm a Militia Immaculata person. :)

1. Morning/afternoon/evening prayer

2. Weekly rosary with family

3. No white bread

4. No meat

5. Other stuff

I was contemplating giving up beer again this Lent, but then decided that God would think that is just ridiculous.
