BarbTherese
If I were in religious life, I really think I would prefer my name in religion to be chosen by my superior, rather than myself. Chosen by my superior, it would strike me as having something prophetic about it - something that I should investigate and then embrace wholeheartedly. For example, my parents chose "Barbara Mary" as my baptismal first name and I discovered that "Barbara" has several meanings that are very apt for me (for one, it reminded the Greeks of the totally unintelligible chatter of foreigners" :) "Mary" is also apt since I have great devotion to Our Lady and this was passed on to my from my Dad since my earliest years. Dad had great and confident devotion to Our Lady under her title "Perpetual Help". I chose "Therese" as my Confirmation name without knowing anything really about her except that the large painting on my classroom wall of her was the only 'holy image' with a smile and she held a crucifix with roses. I then discovered that I could have a REAL, honest to goodness, picture of a REAL saint (not one who existed hundreds and hundreds of years in the past). Later in my life Therese's theology and Little Way really spoke to me meaningfully. Carmel was to come to mean much to me from my mid teens and a relationship with the nuns I have maintained to this my 67th year. In my mid teens they were a healthy flourishing community in a beautiful monastery - nowadays three older nuns only remain living in a suburban house. TheLordsSouljah
Does anyone know if Sisters of Life allow titles at the end of your name? (Like Of the Blessed Sacrament, etc) ???? ARE YOU A SISTERS OF LIFE GIRL??? =D
Kylie Spinelli
ARE YOU A SISTERS OF LIFE GIRL??? =D I AM discerning them! (on my own... unfortunately since I'm a revert I have to wait a while until I can officially discern with them....) I just LOVE the SOL and everything they stand for. Once I "officially" became pro-life I vowed to myself and to God that if I could live my life for one purpose it would be (#1, to serve Him, and secondly,) to save babies and end abortion once and for all. After I started discerning, I found the SOL and they struck me from the beginning! I just LOVE their fourth vow, since it is the vow I have already made, and their apostolate is amazing!! :) Are YOU a SOL girl too? :D GB+
NatalieisCatholic
I think any religious name would be such a beautiful blessing! I am very grateful that I don't choose my own religious name because I would never be able to choose! There are so many amazing Saints that it would be impossible to pick just one (or two). :nun: (But Sr. Theresa Amata has a nice ring to it. Or Sr. Immaculata!) I AM discerning them! I saw the SOL at the March for Life! They are so wonderful and so full of joy! (SAVE ALL THE BABIES!) It is so awesome that you are discerning with them! God bless! YAY! I saw them there too! ACTUALLY: I had had a phone convo with Sr. Virginia Joy, assistant VD in the fall about my inquiry form, but since I'm a revert she told me I have to wait a few years to actually discern with them. So after the March I was at St Peter's Church and I saw a few SOLs and I went over to chat and say HI. I introduced myself (1st name) to one sister and she asked me for my second name. After telling her, she got all excited and was like, "Oh my gosh, I'm Sr. Virginia Joy, we talked over the phone! HOW ARE YOU?!" It was so awesome to finally meet her (and then Sr. Antoniana Maria!) in person! They're SOO nice! :D I'm an SOL girl too! WOOT! They are incredible awesome amazing witnesses of truth! YAY! SOuL SISTAS! ;)

Same name, two different forms of Mary. ;) My apologies. ;) I'm a bit like Saint Therese in that I want to keep my name, especially since there is no Saint Miles, so I can fill that gap. :P

Alberto Guimaraes
Peace and Good! Choicing a religious name to me I' ld prefer my Baptism name (Alberto) and another name related to Jesus Passion, such as: Br. Alberto Way-of-Cross (a devotion I love) or Br. Alberto Our Lady of Sorrows. But I am a secular Franciscan brother, so I can' t use religious name. Jesus, Mary and Francis bless you and keep you! Br.
