Al, I admire your strength and courage. We all have our problems, thus we shouldn't condemn you for yours.

May God bless you, Aloysius, for displaying courage in the face of adversity. You are in my prayers.

St. Michael, protect Aloysius from the reach of the devil!

Al, I barely know you at all, but you have just gained my complete respect. I used to have alternate s/ns on different boards, not for these reasons, but so that I could say or ask about things I wasn't sure of without need for embarassing my primary profile's personality. I was found out.

When I came to Phatmass, I realized how friendly everyone was and I discovered that I didn't have to hide in shame at any ignorance or anything I had. This is a place where struggles can be shared.

I have no alternate profiles here or on Flyfree or OneRock, and I am glad of it. Honesty is so clean and so easy with a loving pham.

Rest assured, my prayers are with you.

Hmmmm I still dont know what all "catholics" consider right and wrong.... As a human being though, I think its RIGHT to be honest with yourself. I think its RIGHT to be honest with those around you that love you and care about you. I think its WRONG to try and be something youre not. I think its WRONG to lie.

Maybe what I think as a human being doesnt coincide with what I should think as a catholic...

I have gay friends. I even had a best friend that was gay. We would check out hotties at the mall together. I didnt let his sexual preference define who he was. Chris was funny, and smart and silly and kind and he always knew how to cheer me up when I was feeling down.

I dunno, to some people those things just dont matter.

I have a friend(he's 24, we met a couple months ago) that was in a car accident 6 years ago. He had a bad head injury and he doesnt talk well and he walks kinda slow. He said to me the other day, that he was suprised I was talking to him still. Naturally I asked why. I was totally puzzled by his comment. He said b/c of his walking and talking. Walking and talking dont make up the man though, ya know. John is one of the smartest people I know. Most people just dont give him a chance to show it. He's also way goofy and funny. We have tons of fun together! Not to mention he's incredibly gorgeous so I do enjoy drowning in those gorgeous blue eyes of his! LOL I explained all of that to him. He's insecure about his disabilities... With me he doesnt have to be though... He's perfect just the way God made him!

As a human being, I say be what you are! Shout it from the rooftops!!!! If that makes me a bad catholic... then I guess thats just the way God made me.

tis true tis true... EXCEPT

the actions are deplorable, and to allow someone who you are supposedly friends with to continue to act upon them without at least letting them know the culture is wrong and they do not have to follow that path is also deplorable.

homosexual relationships are against God's created order. They are unhealthy phyisically, emotionally, and spiritually. but ppl who have same sex attraction should not be discriminated against, ostricized, or made fun of.

trust me, really trust me, even if your friend seems like the most happy go lucky healthy person in the world, deep down he's not truly happy. deep down, he has never known true hapiness and thus fears to leave the little smidgent of it he has found. to pursue a homosexual lifestyle is to pursue the death of your soul, i speak from experience.

and thanx to everyone for the support.

SacredTruth, I could be misunderstanding you, but I think you're telling Al to act on his nature. This is problematic because we have fallen natures. We need to strive to follow the nature God intended for us. There are people who have the nature of being arsonists, rapists, murderers, etc. These are all sinful things. I, by nature, am an under-confident, indecisive young man who gives in easily to the sin of sloth. This is something I am working to improve.

In any event, Al is a strong and admirable young man for wishing to be chaste and to follow the Christian lifestyle, regardless of the faults in his nature. Phatmass is a place where we can support each other through our difficulties, and telling a person to give in is not the way to support a person.

I hope I haven't overstepped my bounds with this, but I felt that this attitude is contributing to the culture of death, and being on the crusade I am against the Culture of Death, I felt that I had to say something.

It is difficult to tell a person's emotion over the internet, SacredTruth, I write this in the genuine interests of Christian friendship and charity. ;)

Well chris and I arent friends anymore... I havent heard from him in a few years....

and this is DEFINATELY the last time I try and show support and acceptance.

I cant win for losing. Nothing I say is ever right with ya'll. Maybe I'm not cut out to be catholic after all. I guess its better I find out now before I wasted my time with all those RCIA classes.

Catholicism is a journey and Phatmass is an excellent guide. Everyone is cut out to be Catholic. Everyone.

Ya know what this is ridiculous!!!! you are so right! I guess I'm not a catholic after all. The God I believe in isnt nearly as harsh and demanding as you. I believe that my GAY friend chris WILL end up in HEAVEN! I believe that b/c he has a good heart and he's a good person. I dont think God is gonna cast him aside b/c of his sexual preference. But then again I'm not a catholic so I wouldnt know, now would I.

Whateva... I've had enough of trying to be something I'm obviously not!

Oh, dear.

I never said that your friend Chris wouldn't go to heaven, SacredTruth. I'm not about judging anyone; I'm merely saying that telling Al to do something we believe is sinful, especially when he is making a valiant effort not to do it, is not supportive. I meant it in all friendliness and charity.

Oh, dear...
