PhuturePriest
When I was discerning I always tried to find a way to keep my name because there is no Saint Miles and I wanted to be the first one. Now I think I'll likely be able to be the first one! ;)

ChristinaTherese
The Pope is resigning! *sniff* I'm totally shocked. But it will be very interesting to see who the conclave elect. I was told by a protestant friend who had just told me about the "prophecy of the popes" that is supposedly (and definitely not) from St. Malachy. So I didn't believe him at all. Then I saw an email from my brother that told me that it was real.... I had an interesting morning, what with wanting to come back to my computer and prove that my friend was spouting insanity and finding out that part of what he had said was right.... Not to mention the fact that Pope Benedict is resigning.

ChristinaTherese
I've heard of that...still slightly skeptical about it. You should be. It was only "found in the Vatican archives" in the 1600's, 400 years after it was "written". It also predicts the end of the world, but Jesus Himself said that we shan't "know the day or the hour". It was also, according to my brother, "found" by someone who was probably an occultist.... I didn't know any of that when my friend told me a little this morning, of course, but prophesying a pope who would be "Peter the Roman"? Well, you can butcher just about any pope to be that, but no pope is going to take the name of Peter. I guess a man elected pope could have the baptismal name of Peter, but it just sounds wrong. And we shan't "know the day or the hour", so any discussion that involves knowing that is automatically a mute point. Basically, it's crazy. Moving on.... EmilyAnn
Today was full of drama llamas again. First the whole Pope Benedict resigning thing. Then one of my housemates had a violent fit of temper. I was upstairs in my room so I didn't see it but I heard this yelling and swearing coming from downstairs. He was upset and had been drinking and when my other housemate tried to discourage him from drinking more, he flipped out. My other housemate had to physically attack him and restrain him. It's become a real problem, he's hurt people before when he's gone into a rage. I think tonight he hit his rock bottom. Which is sad to see, but it means he can finally start going up again. So please pray for him, and all his friends as we try and help him.
EmilyAnn
Sooo I have no heating in my house today. I came downstairs this morning and the boiler has this fun little red light it gets when it stops working. We reset it. It still didn't work. We waited and reset it again. Still didn't work. About three more attempts at that, turning it completely off at the mains, and checking the pressure and it still didn't work. It hasn't worked all day, my landlord was supposed to be here like 45 minutes with some people to look round the house and check on things but still nothing. :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold: :cold:
AnneLine
Brrrrrr, EmilyAnn! I'm all for you being a cool person, but we don't want you to be a COLD person. ;) Turn on that Tea Kettle!
EmilyAnn
We managed to get heating back yesterday afternoon, which was a relief. We were huddled in the living room because it warmer than the rest of the house with all our jumpers and blankets. :hehe: I managed to get a lot of work done as well the past few days which is awe.some. Still a little behind, but it'll be okay. :)
MissScripture
Sounds like the day we woke up and discovered the fuel tank ran out of oil during the night. Luckily, we had a delivery scheduled for that morning. I made baked oatmeal for breakfast, just so the oven would be on and warm up the kitchen. We huddled in there with the space heater. Glad you all stayed warm! Times like that I would be really happy to have roommates I liked! Lol

I couldn't stand the people I shared a dorm with in my first year, but the last few years I've been pretty lucky and always lived with friends. I managed to speak to my supervisor today and he was much more positive about my work than I have been. I've got the weekend to complete some work and it should be all good. :)
