FutureCarmeliteClaire
This week has been crazy amazing for me. This March for Life in particular really impacted me. Especially being there in DC with 500,000 others, mostly youth. We are the future, and it was so motivating and wonderful. Started out the week on Tuesday by meeting my best friend, the171. Pretty much amazing. I tried really hard not to cry. I also met Feather2264, but I don't think we have pictures of all three of us. Finally, Friday I was there with the other teens from my parish, we were yelling, and singing and chanting. My Deacon lost his voice very early on. I say, "Deacon! We've gotta yell something!" so, he's like, "What do you want to yell?" So he's standing there leading the chants with some teen girls yelling for the unborn. It was amazing. I was connected to my parish family more than ever that day. I was fortunate to go to the rally and speeches on the mall before the March. The one speaker that really struck me was the young man who was conceived through rape. He was talking about how courageous his birth mother was to carry him through her traumatic pregnancy. He was adopted into a loving family of 13 children (10 of which were adopted). Just amazing. I met brianthephysicist. Way cool. Then we met up with CCC (Contemporary Caflic Crusader), who I had also met up with the previous year. Then, I met Iron Man. And the Avengers. Finally, this part grabbed my heart and tore it to pieces. We were leaving the March, and I see a woman all by herself pushing an empty stroller. She was wearing a Silent No More "I regret my abortion" pin. If I weren't so painfully shy, I would have gone up and hugged her. It killed me. I love all those Silent No More women, so amazingly strong to be able to be there and share that painful part of their lives. We marched for the unborn in the snow, wet, and cold, six weeks post-surgery. It took forever to get on the metro, lots of waiting, lots of crowds, and I was in severe pain. I wouldn't rather spend my day any other way. I loved every minute of prayer and suffering offered for the unborn. Summus pro vita! Kateri89
That's great! I also was there. It was my first time on the March and man was it freezing in DC. By the time we finished marching and went to find our bus, my toes were so cold they were burning and I was shivering like crazy. But like you said, I kept reminding myself that my suffering was nothing compared to what the unborn children of this nation (and of the world) have experienced so I was more than happy to offer it up. The part that really hit me was when we marched past the graphic images on the screen. I've seen pictures of aborted children before but there was one image that wasn't a still photo. It was video footage of a very small fetus after an abortion who was still alive and moving but just barely. It broke my heart and made me sick at the same time. I sincerely hope I can go next year. Plus on the bright side I got to meet an SSVM sister and saw several religious orders of women that just made me all giddy :bounce:
