Gabriela
I recommend getting plugged into the Oratory! They have Adoration, discussion groups, etc! http://www.pittsburghoratory.org/ Two questions: 1) It says they only serve the students from the secular unis. I'll be at Duquesne. Is that cool? 2) It looks like people live there. Are they only religious? If I can live in a Catholic community rather than rent an apartment "outside", that'd be awesome! Out of pity I will not hijack this thread and make it about Emily. However, be warned that I shall do this in the future, should you be so brave. Bravery is the virtue I drew for 2013, just FYI. Thus, I may be so...

Nihil Obstat
Very well. But be warned: My rambling will be endless... The heck is with the future tense there, dude? "Will be"... Honestly.
Guest brandy_jo
Regarding the Oratory- they are a congregation of secular priests who live in community. The Newman Center there officially serves the secular universities. I am not a student at all and still go to mass and Adoration and confession there. Of course, Duquesne may offer all of the spiritual assistance and community you need- but I would at least go and check out the Oratory as another option. They are legit!!! cmotherofpirl
I think I was just accepted to a PhD program at Duquesne, and they want me to come for a visit this semester. (I'm not SURE I was accepted, because the email was worded strangely, but they did invite me for a visit.) I'm a broke grad student. I can't afford a hotel in Pittsburgh. (I'm not even sure how I'll get there without a car...) I'm wondering if I might be able to borrow someone's nice Catholic couch. ;-) PM me if you prefer not to announce your location publicly. BTW: I see that Opus Dei is in (or near) Pittsburgh. But they don't have anything for women there, do they? Call them and ask for advice, and let me know what they say. When my son returns from his business trip I will also check with him.

I try to go to adoration there at least once or twice a week :proud: I have no idea what kind of assistance they could provide but it never hurts to ask!
