Slappo
I heard it mentioned on NPR. It's not really news if it happens every year. You mean like the super bowl, march madness, and the world series? Or more like the commemoration of 9/11? Oh wait.. those are all covered. My bad

Fidei Defensor
haha yeah annual events rarely get significant news coverage lol Not if nothing has changed from year to year. It's unfortunate it didn't get more coverage but I'm fairly certain no one is unsure about why they are their or the arguments they're making. So what you're saying is that while some repetitious events, like say the superbowl or the state of the union, have different content and/or outcomes each time, other events, like a code pink protest or the march for life, don't and are pretty much identical from year to year and event to event. I wonder if that makes a difference in coverage?
Groo the Wanderer
Superbowl is the same every year: bunch of sweaty men in tight pants put their hands in between the legs of other sweaty men in tight pants, tackle them , and roll all over them state of the union is the same very year: pres gets in front of the cameras and lies to us from a teleprompter

Nihil Obstat
Whose estimate pegs it at 650,000? Until now I had not heard any estimates higher than 500,000.

Until now I had not heard any estimates higher than 500,000. from what i understand, EWTN hired a professional firm to do the estimating. that's what i heard, but don't have a source. jazzytakara
There is a lot of media bias against the Catholic Church, especially in regards to sex scandals within the church. When it happens within a Catholic parish, the parish and those guilty are named for the public; however, often when it is a doctor, teacher, or Protestant minister who is guilty of the crime it is less sensationalized in the media. All sex scandals are wrong, but since the media sensationalizes only the Catholic transgressions many people now believe that all Catholic priests are pedophiles. So I am not surprised that there was less media coverage allocated to the March for Life. Also, most media organizations work for ratings these days rather than delivering the news, that's why you get supermodel esque 'journalists' covering stories written by a team of writers and also why the news seems to focus more so on popular beliefs/culture. The sensationalize stories they know will grab public attention and demonize those who are counter culture. Being pro-life is unpopular these days sadly, so the media will practice a bias against it. Fidei Defensor
Recognition is not a prerequisite for something being true. If the cause is true it doesn't matter if it is ignored. If you only protest for recognition then you are protesting for the wrong reasons.
