Update About Emma

I just got a few books that Emma had promised me, with a note from her mom. Here are the pertinent parts of the note:

We took [Emma] to Roswell to enter the convent last Sun, Jan 13, on the feast day of The Baptism of Our Lord. We heard from Mother Angela who said Emma is fitting right in and doing well. If you are on Phatmass, please post an update to let everyone know Emma is doing well so far. (I am not technical enough to do this, I don't even have facebook!)

(Just FYI, I was a lot freer with my transcription than I would be in an academic paper.... But that doesn't mean that I changed any words, I just skipped normal citation things like ellipses.)

I'm going to write back to thank her for the package in a few days or so, after I've looked at it a little more and read a bit.

A quote from one of the books Emma sent me:

"Roswell? Where is that?" the seven foundresses of 1948 inquired when told where the new foundation was to be located. "Can anything good come out of little Roswell?" But it is not a famous setting that God needs. Nor persons famous by worldly standards. It was a small undersized man, Francis, and a young girl, Clare, who were to make Assisi renowned by reason of their having lived there the Churchly life of the Gospel. And so God's plans are ever carried out by those who submit the enthusiastic plans of their hearts to the guidance of the Church. In our present times, there are not wanting new young enthusiasts to carry on the continual renewal of heart and spirit and ideal if only an acreage of clarity and a surety of purpose are made available to them. If only they can realize that the most enduring right to be merry is realized within the King's rooms.

This is the last paragraph (no, I haven't actually read the whole book yet :p) of a book called The King's Rooms, by Mother Mary Francis, which talks a good deal about the cloister.

Hi! this is Emma's mom. Thank you so much for posting her update. I finally figured out how to log in and so will be leaving updates I guess on this thread. We need to figure out a way for me to get your address as I posted my only copy of your address on the front of your package! I will have more books to send you as I go through Emma's things. God bless you as you discern the vocation God has for you...

Very glad to have you among us, Lisaberry!   There are a number of us who aren't ctually discerning (I'm married!) but are here to help & support those discerning.   And also enjoying the rest of Phatmass.  You might want to consider a welcome thread on openmic and let us all welcome you!  This is a fun and helpful site, and we do a lot to support each other!

Prayers for you and your family, too!  Give (Sr) Emma our love!  Do you know if they have her using 'sister' yet, or is she just called Emma?
