Super duper random question...I had a total of 82,000 YouTube views a couple of weeks ago. Then it *dropped* to 75,000. THEN it dropped to 70,000. I had just gotten to 73,000 yesterday and this morning it was down to 50,000. It shows 50,000 views on the page to the public, but my private viewcounter that only I can see shows the number that it should be; 85,000. I've notified YouTube several times and gotten no response? Does anyone (especially my tech nerd friends) have any idea why this is happening?

ETA: nobody that I know of is having the same problem. From what I've seen, it's just me.

Not sure why that would happen. Youtube has been using new algos to attempt to find "bot views" and such algorithms have been known to have false positives.

Have you deleted any videos?

Over the course of the next few weeks, we're changing the way we calculate YouTube channel view counts to better reflect the content that's publicly accessible to viewers.  Historically we've incremented channel view counts any time a video on that channel was viewed. This meant that unlisted, private, and even videos that have since been deleted contributed towards that view count.

We're removing view counts of deleted videos over the next few weeks. After that, we'll remove view counts from unlisted and private videos so the view count shown for a channel will include only the views from public videos. If you have private or unlisted videos that you want to count towards your channel's view count, you can simply set them to "public" and they will be included in your view count within a day.

So...why am I the only one getting views removed? There are people who I KNOW have unlisted videos, but their viewcounts have not changed. :annoyed:

DC, not for nothing, but who really cares about views and things?  Are you doing this for a living?  If not, you really have to let go.  It appears that youtube recalculated things.  It may have affected you more than others. It's not a huge deal.

LOL No. I explained earlier that I like to set goals (I don't revolve around them or anything) and I wanted to hit 100,000 by June. I was super close and then YouTube got stupid.

You're not, perhaps the only one in your group of friends or ppl you know, but it is happening to others. It will very likely happen to your friends soon enough.

Then again maybe it's a conspiracy, an act of the Shadow Proclamation.

Probably wasn't an instantaneous change on the servers.  One of those things they do in stages....like for example.....do all channels beginning with 'A' and then 'B'.

Youtube gets billions of messages...they survive by having limited personal so I'm suprised they have not contacted you back.  They will only do so for something really important.

Video views isn't "really important" to them :D .

Not that I consider it SUPER IMPORTANT to them, but when someone contacts them repeatedly over the course of a few weeks on the same subject, you'd think it would at least get noticed.
