Weird Kjv?

So this past weekend my atheist friend gave me a Bible she was gifted as a kid (she was going to get rid of it and did not feel it was very reverent to just throw it out, so I agreed to take it).  Anyway, I just thought it was odd that it had a downward pointing pentagram on the front with other symbols within it (I can't really tell what they are?) Is this something normal?? It as has three letters under the star (Greek??), O, something that looks like a hybrid of a lowercase a and e, S.  The inside just says its an authorized KJV.

All KJVs are weird and icky.   :)

But what does the publishing info say?  Can you find an ISBN number?

So I figured out that it is an Order of the Eastern Star bible!!! (masonic!)

Next question: what to do with it?

I knew an older woman from the nursing home who was a member of the OES.

I'd ask a priest what you should do with it.  I'm leaning towards burning it and burying the ashes but it could be scandalous if someone witnesses you burning a Bible.

burn it

while that actually seems like a reasonable option, the cover is plastic and I'm not quite sure I want to inhale plastic fumes today??

Does it sounds reasonable to remove the cover and burn the rest? :idontknow:

Seems unlikely that the little bit of plastic from the cover would be particularly harmful. You could do it outside though, and stand back a bit.

Yeah, burning and burying is the most respectful way to get rid of a bible.  It doesn't sound like a lot of plastic, so that should just smolder. My siblings and I burned more things than we should have in our backyard.  That much plastic won't hurt you. :)

it's a masonic bible.  why in the heck do we have to be reverent about it?
