JazzyBar
Hello. I posted this question to the Catholic Answers Ask an Apologist forum but they didnt respond. Let me explain my situation. I want to go to Mass, however I dont have a car. I live about 4.50 miles from a vietnamese speaking church and alittle over 7 miles from an english speaking church. My question is, am I still obligated to go to Mass? Is it within a reasonable distance, or am I excused?
CatherineM
I wonder how they got to mass before cars were invented? Reasonable depends on the situation. If you have access to public transit, then no excuse. If you can arrange a ride, or can physically ride a bike, then no. If you are in a wheelchair, and it is -20 degrees outside, you can skip. Just review all you options, and be realistic. Don't rationalize, because that's a good way to talk yourself into trouble. Call the church. Someone coming may live by you, or someone may be willing to swing by. How about a taxi?
