Guy Outsources His Own Job To China, Watches Cat Vids

This is how a lot of business is done. I worked for a company where the boss would receive contract jobs with other companies for a set amount and then he would pay engineers to go out and do the work - for a lot less than what he had contracted for. The owner is still on the hook though if one of his engineers screws up. It happens all the time. In this case he was an actual employee paid to do something himself and then actually outsourced it to china. That's ballsy.

 

I'm not saying outsourcing is a bad idea. I'm saying that, in this case, he was giving the cryptographic keys to the network of this utility company to people in China without informing the company. That's incredibly dangerous at the very least.

Yeah I pictured him in my mind like that picture of the Nintendo kid surrounded by rad, colorful nintendo stuff lol and the caption "You'll never be as cool as him." It's interesting that this thread has focused on the outsourcing angle lol.

Agreed - if it were a military job, he'd be in prison and labeled a traitor.
