Mass At Eastern Rite Churches

I always chuckle a bit when an eastern rite priest refers to the Divine Liturgy as mass by accident :). A lot of eastern rite priests I know in the US are regularly in latin rite society and terminology slips up sometimes :).

I'm actually very pleased with the Ruthenian church located in the demographic area of the western Archdiocese of Anchorage. The priest works for the local western Catholic school and sometimes offers Divine Liturgy at the cathedral for major Eastern feasts at the request of the western priests :). They seem to have a great respect for each others traditions and it is beautiful to see those traditions respected. Off topic but I really wanted to share :).

I look forward to next time I'm in Anchorage and can assist at the Divine Liturgy there. If I lived there I would quite possibly look at switching rites.

Breathe with both lungs - visit an Eastern parish! It's given me a great appreciation for our universality, but also for my own particular Latin tradition.

I went to a Greek Orthodox... uh... something or another... once. It was confusing. I wrote three or four pages on it in my journal, describing in great detail my discombobulation.
