Right now though I'm kinda mad. Wanting him to break if off with her and find someone better, nicer, more respectful. I haven't told him this though...maybe never will. But maybe I'm just letting it get to me.  Maybe I just let it go and let the relationship grow and fall as it should?  Maybe I should just pray more...

Thoughts and prayers are more than welcomed...

Hm.  So the woman he loves and wants to marry offended you and now your friend should break up with her to bandage up your very, very thin skin?  I guess St. Narcissus was your confirmation saint.

What would your reaction be if a dear friend of yours, someone like a brother to you was going to marry a woman who told you, "homos deserve to die of AIDS?"

My guess is, you wouldn't take that so well...  you'd want to see your dear friend with someone more respectful and not homophobic and hateful... its the same situation with blacksheep here...he and his best friend are like brothers... I understand blacksheep's reaction...

Probably because there is a huge difference between wishing death on a class of people and thinking that a set of beliefs are ridiculous.

I consider Winchester, J-Lol, MIKolbe, Lil Res, MT, Ardill, Nihil et cetera friends despite the fact that they consider many of my beliefs to be wrong and morally appalling and vica versa.

Who is Lil Res?

I understand your reaction, too, blacksheep. But I think that, given a few days to cool down, you'll probably look back on it and just shrug with resignation. It's not like you didn't know this kind of person was out there. The fact that it's your best friend's girlfriend is more difficult... I should think that, if you try to give the guy an ultimatum, he'll stick with the girl over the friend. So I wouldn't do that. Unless you're prepared to lose the friendship over this.

Try getting to know her sober.

The thing I hear most often is "Oh, you're religious? But you're so intelligent..." Which requires ENORMOUS WILLPOWER not to respond to with a reflexive punch to the face. I've heard it from professors, friends, total strangers... Last time was in a Panera in West Virginia. Really, what right did that guy have? I've learned to roll my eyes and walk away. Arguing with people who are so stupid AND arrogant that they think intelligence necessitates a particular worldview is futile, maddening, and a near occasion to murder.

That's really sad that hearing an opinion tempts you to that sort of violence.

Homophobia and aids is a bad analogy here...

I'll put it this way.  It's was as if i was talking to her and she told me "You know your mom. I'm sorry but she's full of sh*t."

Afterall we call the church our mother church.

Actually it was st. luke.  The patron saint of writers and artists....and they do tend to be full of themselves at times...so hey good eye.

My mom is full of sh*t. Are you saying that's a bad thing? Why are you judging my mom?
