Anastasia13
Are account managers usually responsible for developing new accounts and keeping them happy, like salesmen (and women) who also deal with existing accounts or do they deal with just the existing accounts? I'm asking because I can deal with customer service but not as much the sales side of things, and I wonder if these positions might be worth considering. Thanks. Gabriela
Account managers both secure (i.e., "sell") new accounts and manage existing accounts, usually of the people/companies they originally sold to. If they get a client for the company, they keep that client until the client leaves. At least, that's my experience working with Account Managers. It's probably different at different companies. A larger company may have new accounts get handed over to a different department. You'd have to ask at the particular company. But typically clients prefer to keep working with the same person. BTW: Now your tag is better than mine. ;-)

In my line of work the salesman are the account managers.
