Kateri89
I almost cried when I saw that Sister smile at the beginning of the video. I had no idea such an Order existed. So beautiful. Thanks for posting!
Gabriela
That is out-of-this-world totally flipping WONDERFUL. God bless them!!! I know next to nothing about Down's Syndrome, but from those I've met who have it, it seems to me they'd rock the vow of obedience. They're exceptionally docile people, aren't they? somethingfishy
As a former L'Arche assistant I can tell you: people with Down syndrome are people, with individual personalities and preferences. This idea that all people with Down syndrome are sweet/happy/childlike is not true, nor is it true that all people with that diagnosis have a severe intellectual disability. Most persons with Down syndrome I have known have had a job -- one woman I knew had her own apartment and was working toward a two-year degree at a community college. Her biggest obstacle was not her diagnosis but the discrimination she faced every single day.

Haha not my cousin! She can be very assertive and sassy, but she can also be very sweet. Are there any other communities like this? I remember an old thread mentioning either this community or another like it. One of the Franciscan Brothers Minor has high functioning DS; God chooses who He wills! lanpingpug
I think there is a congregation of Blind Sacramentines who wear red habits but not sure on the website or details.
