missionseeker
I'm looking for a pair of amazing jeans. I always have trouble finding some that fit well because I have a smaller waist size than what fits my hips and thighs. Never tried skinny jeans but am interested now because I got a pair of great boots that would look nice with them. lol. I've loved my Ann Taylor jeans - the curvy fit was great for me and I got them at an outlet mall for $17 instead $129 and they lasted me for over a year AND I got a pair of black ones that I still have which I used to waer to work in a kitchen but they're still in good condition. I'm not anywhere near an outlet mall and while they're having a great sale online I'm dead broke but down to my LAST pair jeans which are J Lo Jeans that I got on sale at kohls. Great fit, very comfy, but I got them in October? September? and they already have a hole in the rear pocket. :( Any brand suggestions?
PhuturePriest
I think the underlying reason for this thread is to start a modesty debate about jeans. And even if that is not it, I'm afraid it is simply a matter of time. However, as radical as this sounds, jeans are okay to wear. Just not with glitter that says something sexy on your butt. :| Sorry I can't actually contribute to this thread with an actual brand of women's jeans. I'm afraid I am not familiar. However, if you are interested in men's jeans, I recommend Lee's and Wrangler. I've seen enough men shamefully walk around in jeans that make them unable to bend their knees to know there are men's jeans that are tight. cmaD2006
Actually having talked to MissionSeeker ... she could be serious in her question :). MS -- I don't know. I use Gloria Vanderbilts because they're the only ones that fit length wise. Anything else (most of the times) is too long.
Basilisa Marie
Gloria Vanderbilts make the khakis I like to wear to work (I second the comment on good length, and they don't have "extra room" on the "back of my upper thigh"), and I've had some success with Sonoma brand jeans. I do know many women that get jeans that fit their hips and derriere well, and have the "top" taken in for the smaller waist. It's a bit of a pain, but if you can find jeans that are cheap on the rack, then spend a bit to get them tailored, you'll have a pair that fits just as well as expensive jeans without paying as much money. Might be worth it if you know the pair will last you a long time. Edited January 15, 2013 by Basilisa Marie
HisChildForever
I live in skinny jeans. When I'm not in pajama pants, that is. Anyway, I personally think the skinny jeans with a bit of stretch in them make for the best fit (and are more comfortable). I love Kohl's and recently got a pair there with the stretch I mentioned, the brand is Mudd. I've also had luck at Joyce Leslie. If you shop right, at both stores you can get jeans for 20 bucks and under. If those options don't work, Charlotte [s]Rousse[/s]Russe has good jeans and typically 2-for-1 deals. Of course you were the first to respond to this thread. :P I recently got a pair of skinny jeans at aeropostale that fit great. I don't usually shop there, but a friend dragged me in... DiscerningCatholic
I don't wear jeans (or any other kinds of p.ants for that matter; it's just a personal preference for myself), but I've seen a lot of cute jeans at Target and Old Navy! :) And GAP. Tantum Ergo
It's hard to recommend jeans because different brands fit differently, so what works for one person might not work for another. I've found that jeans from Old Navy fit me well, and they're not too expensive. "The sweetheart" works if you have larger hips and a smaller waist. But they aren't the most durable. They get holes in them after about a year. Maybe you should just go down to the mall and look for sales and try stuff on. That can be infuriating, but you might find something good. brianthephysicist
:like: Some of my favorite clothes are from that store :) Mine too. I love thrift stores. I've never bought a new pair of jeans before, but my two favorite pairs of jeans from thrift both happen to be Lee. They've proven to be durable enough for me, I prefer the particular texture of their jeans to that of most other jeans I've owned or tried on, and I've lucked out in the fit department. I know that last one may be particularly difficult for women but I'm sure you can get them adjusted like Basilisa Marie said. That actually reminds me I need to get my blazer adjusted. I had a pair of Gloria Vanderbilts back when my now-14 year old was about five. We were sitting together reading books one day when he noticed the button on the jeans said, "GV." He said, "Mom, what's the 'GV' stand for?" I said, "That stands for Gloria Vanderbilt-- that's the name of my jeans." He thought a minute and said, "Do you name all of your jeans?" :|
sixpence
i have the same issue! i used to loveeeee Express's curvy fit (when they were on sale or got them for Christmas lol), but they did away with different cuts :( I was able to get some jeans that fit decently at Kohl's by just trying on so many... I can figure out the brand when i get home if you would like :)
Autumn Dusk
Try Old Navy. They have a MILLION cuts. I have big thighs, small butt, small waist and long legs and I prefer boot cut. The Diva's are great...not absolutely perfect around the waste, but butt and thigh and the rest work well and I have a belt that works. My mom put "darts" (folded over piece) in one pair's waistline and the fit is superb.
