Libcath2000
Does anyone know about "Domus Rosa Mystica" - connected to the Arcdiocese of Detroit. They were around at least 3 years ago but I had never heard of them until this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lE21PK15dk
chasmi
This community was apparently housed somewhere near my parish. I remember seeing some of their young members at Mass about two or three years ago, but then they seemed to disappear. I then saw the youtube video that you linked and put two and two together, remembering seeing them at Mass. When I saw this post, I looked for their website but it seems to have vanished as well. Libcath2000
Thanks for the info. - They must have been canonically surpressed. Does anyone know the usual number of years a new foundation is given for their trial period?
cmaD2006
LibCath -- a community can take decades before it is "of papal right". Technically if it is of "diocesan right" a Bishop can act to suppress/close the group. I don't have all the details ... and I am even concerned about posting this much (due to the back and forth discussions that may come up). But canon law has the gory details. Suffice to say that even when joining a community that has been established for 20-30 years there is always a risk of the group being "disbanded". One case in point is the Intercessors of the Lamb (they existed for a good while). There's even more of a risk if you enter an "Public Association of the Faithful" since that means the community (in all likelihood) is very recent (probably within 10 years of being founded). But alas it is a risk that is worth taking if the community is the one for you. I also know of a woman who belonged to another community for 10 years when the community was disbanded, and all of a sudden she went from being a lay Religious to simply a layperson. And a note not directed to LibCath: Finally a friendly reminder that this is not debate table -- so please keep that in mind if responding to the particulars on the different foundation stages. Personally I don't want to see it go down the path other threads in VS have. Edited January 15, 2013 by cmariadiaz
